Great way to start out! I had a old xr70 starting out when I was 6 and hated it! but it sure tought me how to ride, I had no prob moving to someing bigger. and I'm a short guy! the sad thing is the kx80 was way lighter than that old bike.. haha!
i wanna say it was 92 or 93.. i could be wrong.. did you try a microphish? sometimes they will give colors...
hey man when she gets older i did this to my friends pw 80 and it flys now it goes like 8 mph faster and more torque but what he did was put 6 5/8s holes in the air box 3 on each side and also when u take the exhaust off theres a washer that restricts the flow and if u take it off it gets u more power, i also adjusted the timing 4 degrees and wow its a hill blike.. i live in southeast mn and its all hills, but i would wait for a while b4 that and im also timid of that bike cuz my friend flipped it on a hill that he was jumping and had a siezure and cant ride for a few more weeks

my lil girl is very short so that why i went with the pw50. the bike only comes up below my knee. that way she can get on & off the bike by herself. i wanted to get the ttr but it was a lil bit taller so i dont think it wouldve worked for her.
Good thinking, and that way she gets used to a 2stroke.
short people go faster!I:I
it's not a washer.. but a propeller style spark arrestor.. VERY easy to remove..hey man when she gets older i did this to my friends pw 80 and it flys now it goes like 8 mph faster and more torque but what he did was put 6 5/8s holes in the air box 3 on each side and also when u take the exhaust off theres a washer that restricts the flow and if u take it off it gets u more power, i also adjusted the timing 4 degrees and wow its a hill blike.. i live in southeast mn and its all hills, but i would wait for a while b4 that and im also timid of that bike cuz my friend flipped it on a hill that he was jumping and had a siezure and cant ride for a few more weeks

the problem is the gearset gets trashed from big people riding it.. BUT.. there is a fix for that.. what you need is a gearset from a yamaha QT50 scooter.. that'll actually gear it better too.. mines already got this done to it.. the kid doesn't know the difference.. tehn anotehr thing you wanna do is look around on 3 wheeler sites for a cylinder from a tri-zinger.. same engine but teh tri-zinger adn quad zinger got a 60cc cylinder.. youi can ususlly pick em up pretty cheap... and it's the SAME THING as the PW big bore kits.. supposedly the cylinder is thick enough you can actually take a 50cc jug and bore it to a 60cc.. but i've never tried it.. then mill the head down a bit, they sell pipes for em.. the dynoport is the best but they quit makig it a few years back.. it;s actualyl got an expansion chamber on it.. there is a company that make teh bar risers and stuff to to use teh BMX bars for an adult to cruise a PW... haha can you tell i researched this stuff? at first the kid wantind NOTHING to do with it so i started collecting part for me to cruise it around.. so now shes got a geared, big bore PW for a first ride.. hahawhats funny is a few days ago i was thinkin now when she is done with this bike and moves to a bigger one i should build this one so i could ride it. i do plan on doing just that. only problem is i really need to beef up the suspension to carry my 200lbs. is there a way to do that?
damn i was pretty close..
ok.. it's been a year or so since i did it... but it's inside the silencer if i remember correctly.. there is a propeller looking deal in there.. you simply cut it out and it opens a PW up quite a bit.. i'll see if i saved any of that info on my comp..tell me more. where do i find this cause i have the exhaust off right now to put on a new gasket. this doesnt make the bike fly or hurt it in anyway does it?
the PW never changed.. i was told by an oldtimer that back before it was called a PW it was called a Y zinger.. and teh first year has spoked wheels.. i've been looking for a set for mine... 83 i think mine is.. so it probably by rights a Y zinger and not a PW.. but whatever.. 6 of one half dozen of another ya know.. ANNYYYWAY they were identical. the best looking ones were the early-mid 80's that were yellow and black.. youi know bob hannah style.. i'll see if i can find a pic.. but for your littel girl i see teh draw to a pink one for sure.oh you where right dead on. the guy said he a books from every year the pw put a bike out & 93-94 was the pink year. he went on to tell me there where red, green, purple, yellow, white, blue, black & so on. best part all of the years plastics fit each other. that means if i find the pink plastics and seat im assured they will fit.
