definitely looks like an overbored cylinder and a standard piston, just too much space around the piston/cylinder wall leaving nothing but ring to fill the gap

its the right size. this motor has less then 2000 miles on it with all new internals

well then you scraped off a few thousands while it was running before the carnage. i have never seen that much of a gap, i dont even think the rings would lock into the locator pins on the piston with that big of a gap. could be the angle of the pic, but thats all i have to go on at this point

i rode it for a couple days like that.when i would start it cold it would make sounds on that sound but once it warmed up it was fine and my dad told me to keep riding it so i did. then yesterday as i was coming home she finally had enough and shut down. so much for my porting

did you just have it ported? maybe who ever ported it didnt taper the port work resulting in the the ring getting snagged

Most likely it is exhaust side. Your lean. Air leak, not proper jetting, mix is wrong??? Have you leak tested recently. I hope after the rebuild you did . What kind of piston? has you air filter fell off, carb to air box not tight? It is colder now and if it was lean before it's even leaner now. Did you rejet for the porting?

I can see better now . looks like got hot and caught a ring. How does cylinder look? It does look a little sloppy too. Was ring gap set?

cylinder is not bad has no scrapes it just has a gouge. the timing was to advanced. we just bumped up the jets to cool it down more but not enough.
