I was riding the other day with a buddy, we were racing back and forth across a field. I was ripping in third and went to shift to fourth and the thing started shaking a little bit and shut right down. When I try to kick it over it turns over very hard, I mean really hard like it's barely making one stroke with the piston. I'm thinking that I fried the rings and maybe one is wedged in the cylinder?? Any thoughts on what I may have done, I haven't taken anything apart yet. I'm pretty well versed on rebuilding car engines so I'm thinking that I can do it myself, but I've never done a 2 stroke. Any input would be great

if it's really hard to kick over you probably need a new top end. new piston, rings and cylinder rebore. you''ll know right away when you take the cylinder off. make sure to check your lower crank bearings when you have the cylinder off to make sure theres no play before you rebuild it.

Is this just a case of some sh**y luck or not enought oil??? I had a 32:1 mix. So since it will need a top end I might as welll go for the 240 kit?

hows the plug? if its white then it blew from wrong jetting or a air leak. if ya got the cash for a 240 then what the hell.I:II:I

if you have the extra money i would maybe consider getting other things than just a 240 top end. like a port job and a stroker crank to go with it. then internally your pretty much done. the rest of the stuff you can just bolt on without tearing the engine apart yet again down the road if you want to upgrade even further. that's just my opinion though.

So I tore the top end apart and was actually impressed at how little damage there was. Just a break in the skirt of the piston. I think the cylinder will be fine after a little honning..

wow! that was close if you didnt catch that problem before it got worst you probly would have end up having that skirt break off into you bottom end= lots of trouble.
