in this months dirt wheels they did the blaster vs raptor 250. and the blaster lost.

they said that they were running a 170 main jet with, an fmf exhaust, hot rods stroker, v-force reed cage, and an a/m filter. first of all the blasters stock jet is a 230 main. they put in a 170 main which would run wwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy lean.

they probably made a mistake with printing out 170 when it should have been 270 which it should have been. but still, a 270 main would still seem a little lean.

dont you think? should i report this mistake to them?

it didn't say that they had an aftermarket carb

funny thing is atvridermagazine tested the two together and the blaster beat the raptor 250 eveytime. it's so odd how dirtwheels can get a different result....

my son has raced the raptor 250 on his blaster and he has never lost.

i think dirtwheels may be pandering for a yamaha advertisement.

Magazines like dirtwheels( I have a scrip by the way) can only profit from giving good reviews to modern machines.

If they came out and said the blaster(which isnt sold anymore in the states) just ate the craptors lunch, then why would yamaha give them more advertising money? Yamaha needs to sell NEW quads. They make nothing from someone buying a used blaster.

Yamaha gives dirtwheels money, dirtwheels writes a good review.

Both companies profit.

Honesty I'd be surprized if they didn't write it that way on purpose, think of ppl like superhunky and the like they disproved many hop ups sold by advertizers. Unfortunatly they have been replaced by ppl willing to tweak or even disregard info to favor the advertizers.

it does seem like every review is good

i remember one test blaster vs. raptor when the raptor first came out and stock for stock the blaster won everywhere but the track and that was due to outdated suspension. i cant seem to remember where i saw it however. ill go look in my archives aka my book shelf of only dirtwheels and quad magazines

that kinda irritates me in a way...X( what the hell good is a review if its crap because they are on some companys jock? we should email them and ask them whats up...

the review was in the September 08 issue of dirt wheels. this one reads that the ONLY complaint they had about a 20 year old machine vs a newly released atv was the outdated suspension and engine wise it pooped on the raptor stock for stock

i read that one, weird how a modified blaster can lose but a stocker can win, weird weird weird, sounds like dirtwheels is kissin some butt, lol

I'd personally love a raptor 250 to blow money on...

OR the first years are getting pretty cheap, I'd like to buy one and cannibalize it and turn it into a modern blaster.

wait so ur saying a blasty motor in a raptor 250 frame if so that sounds like it would be pretty cool and fun infact that would be sweet
