also when cleaning carb and setting float level a qtip is good for cleaning the seat[for the float needle]and make sure to remove the jets for cleanning

i have cleaned it but when the floats are up the needle barley comes out how far should it come? it moves maybe a millimeter

doesn't move much have you removed it? if not do so and the seat where the needle goes can be cleaned with a qtip with card clean on it and also spray through that passage to make sure its clear. But don't get carb clean on rubber its bad for it

yes ive removed it and cleaned it out real good but when it cliped to the float and move it up and down it hardly moves

you really should measure float height but an old trick is to turn the carb upside down and both ends of float should be same distance from the carb body but to be safe I would measure it

Float level should 20 to 21.5mm on a stock carby.

you want to turn the carb and hold it on a slight angle to measure the float height, like shown here......

it should just barely be touching the inner needle, not depressing it,

It is possible to check the fuel level by attaching a length of clear plastic tubing to the drain nipple , lifting it up the side of the carby, and cracking the drain screw.

The fuel should show in the pipe to the level of the carb body above the float bowl gasket.

here's the float height's of the most popular carbs run on our blasters.......Credit to Awk08

26mm vm mikuni - 20-21.5 mm (stock carb)
28mm vm mikuni - 22mm
30mm mikuni - 23-25mm
32/34/36 tm mikuni - 18mm

30mm oko - 19-20MM.

keihin carbs -

alot of these float heights came from this website, if your mikuni or keihin carb isn't listed above, it will be listed here.......

put in new plug ,reeds look fine, its getting spark , the float is at about 20mm , i havnt done a leakdown test yet

It doesn't sound like it's a leak to me. Is it jetted right? New plugs? I had a kx60 that wouldn't start. I cleaned the carb 4 times and then I changed the spark plug and it ran fine.
