hi i have a 06 yamaha blaster it just blew up on me i am going to rebuild it but i need to know how to check if my oil injection system went out to see if this is wat caused it to blow.thanks

my guess would be to turn the gear after you pulled the hose off the carb and see if oil comes out. buuut if it was me i would remove it and premix your gas anyways.

Did you already tear it apart??? Always leakdown before you tear it apart so that you can figure out if there was an air leak. Do it again after assembly

I'm with surf on this one though, I would most definitely eliminate it and premix. Then you know its Getting oil and how much its getting

PREMIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not worth riding and have in the back of ur mind "iss my oil pump working" when i first got my blaster, the first thing i did was take off the pump (removed the gear inside) and premixed since than..... i had no problems, and the piston looks GREAT I:I

If you dicide to keep it then jut premix and disconnect the oil supply line to the carb (plug the pipe connection on the carb !! )
Then start it and check for oil comming out of oil line
It only comes out a small amount so turning it by hand
will prob not get you any visible result

the oil injection is nice its a sin to get rid of it, but im with these boys and i removed mine too. it dosent cost anything to take it off, those oil inj block off kits are just a way to spend money. If u take the side cover with the injector on it off u can pull the clip and pin it runs on and reinstall pin the clips without the pump. after rebuild maybe should bump the main jet up a smudge to make up for the oil in the fuel. (ex: 230 main jet to a 250)

you know i premix because i dont like the idea of the pump changing its ratio the faster it turns, it is inconsistent and who actually knows what it mixes at?

However, I have never heard of one failing. Although it is a likely weak spot i have never heard of it actually happening
