Ok here something different.I have two dt200s and would like to convert them to air cooled.(I live in marble bar the hottest part of australia ) and do
lots of low speed riding and think that the air cooled might be better. What do you think.

Hi
From my experince air cooled probaly dont run any cooler but they normaly have larger clearances between the piston and cylinder so can handle running hotter(at expense of performance). No water cooled motorbike that i have had any experince with can handle the conditions without booiling the coolant out.
well after reading a bit on this forum i see that people do conversions from blaster to dt heads so it may be the case that i might be intrested.i was thinking along the line of swaping the head , radiator, clutch cover, valve servo ect.I just need to find out if the blaster head will accualy fit in the frame and the electrics would be compaterable.
i'd look at upgrading the radiator and/or fan to make it run cooler. running it air cooled is going to be just as bad or worse trying to keep it from overheating IMO
you need the cylinder, head, radiator, a little tube that is a water passage from the clutch cover to the cylinder, hoses, and a dt125 water pump with the sprockets and cover

Expensive long term cooling upgrade:
Get a set of those, or comprable 40mm dual radiators, then make mounts so they fit your frame. Fab up some sort of fan, with hi-lo speed settings.
Cheap but great fix:
Just try 2-4 120mm 95cfm+ computer case fans, they worked great for a person I used to race with. Seen pics of ppl doing similar set-ups on an aussie forum. I'll send you a pm with the link. Once march comes around I'm gonna give a review of those inline water coolers.
Also you either need a custom water pump gear, and or convert the DT basket to fit the blaster bushing. Or you can just use the DT cases, with DT tranny, but it wouldn't be very productive imho to use the DT tranny. It's geared for street/offroad use. I'd get the parts for the swap, and just use the blaster tranny and modified DT basket. Theres so many ways to accomplish this swap, just do a search.
Main topic, I'd keep the liquid cooled engine and do the cheap but great fix. Just my .02.
