I had idleing backfiring issues. check your wiring harness for any wires touching any metal that are bare. it wouln't hurt to cover whole harness in electrical tape. also check your reeds for any chips cracks or damage

what is it doing with the idle? poss too big pilot loading up and dying? give a little more info as to what it is doing @ idle

havent run a leakdown test. it did however make steller compression. no other mods besides a gold series pipe and boyesen reeds. im also at sealevel.

#1 its over carbed

Brando, I believe this is a 34PJ that he is talking about, from previous posts.... Hey, lowkhalbalr, did you ever doublecheck your carb ID?

Backfiring: Reeds or timing. Have you inspected either your flywheel key or reeds?

Idle: back to assuming it is a PJ. Did you check that float level? Did you clean all the idle related passages, air bleed, etc? Have you tried turning the choke knob, which is also the idle speed adjustmnet?

even so, with just the FMF pipe and boyesen reeds, that's a lot of carb.

that shouldn't keep it from idling though, royalt is on it though double check the float level and all the passages.

Exactly, a 34 or 35mm are both a bit large, but should still be doable.

Lowkhalbalr, figure out the ID first thing, because the advice for idle issues will vary depending on whether it is a PJ or PWK.

it is most deffinatly a 35. hsvent checked the reeds but iwill. how do i go sbout the timing? and i will reset the float level.n 16mm? oh yeah, removed airbox and knfilter. btw backfiring through the exhaust...
