one of my bearings had a blowout and i have tooken all the left stuff of and tryed to push axle out the right side am i going out the wrong way and also any tips on replacing the bearings?? and i just got this thing off a friend and the carb was messed up and i fix and she ran like a champe untill the baring desited it wanted to go out!! thanks ahead of time!!

axle slides out the right side ( looking at it from the rear). Just pound out the old bearings or what left of them and tap in new ones. I use an old socket thats the same size as the bearing so it doesn't get messed up.

yea but how do i push out that baring on the right side i have tryed to and its like stuck and i dont wana mess anything up that i dont have to!

Im not sure Im clear. Did you get the axle out of the carrier first? The axle needs to be out to get your bearings out.

i'v done a couple but never seem to go quite the same, my 2000 was rediculous but i had a 96 that every thing but fell apart..... get a big rubber/plastic type mallet or use a piece of wood, the main thing to worrie about is not messin up the threads on the axle,, I also cover every thing in liquid wrend and tap on em to make sure it gets in the cracks with a lil hammer,, there is supposed to be an actuall puller although i never seen any one with one,,, the other thing in my opinion is bearings and seals will cost like 50-60 bucks, every ones budget is different but for 130-140 you can get a rad dual row carrier off e-bay and they are supposed to be much stronger, this also allows you to kinda ,no holds bar'd your carrier housing, if you do this... just set the right side of the axle on a block of wood lube that puppie up and pound him off. the rads come ready to go, just slide axle in..

I just re-did my rear bearings on my '00, so if you search my threads there are a few posts with pix of my agony and tips on what to do and how to do it. Also, here's a link I found which could definately come in handy.
Rear Axle bearing replacement
Good Luck! :)

Ya, the axle comes out opposite the nut side. Just use a drift and hammer and hit it like youre married to it..hehe. Itll come out.

No, you hit it like she doesn't listen. If you hit it like you're married you're lucky to get one good bang every few months...=))

On a serious note tho, I found it a LOT easier to take both tires off and take the entire carrier assembly off the swingarm. Then you can set up a v-block under the carrier and tap the axle out with a hammer and wooden block. Remember, gravity CAN be your friend.

Very true,, take it out, it makes it easier to swing it at your wife when she asks if you are done playing yet....Just make sure you put the spacer in before the bearings or you will be pissed at yourself.
