Hi so iv currently not got my blaster running but got a piston on way for it . are blasters that reliable or what is the most reliable off road 2 stroke quad just it seems everyday i see a thread on here with someone having problems... just don't want to keep spending on the blaster if im going to have nothing but problems down the line.. i was looking into getting a lt250r but then again i dunno if there reliable either..

so questions are. are blasters reliable once there running and also whats the best reliable off road quad out there doesn't matter if its 2 or 4 stroke as long as it has a fast engine!I:I

it's all about routine maintenance and upkeep. watch the p's and q's, dot all your i's and cross all the t's. simple as that really. can be made rather reliable imo.

You go on any forum with ATV's and you will see a lot of problem threads. It's all about how the owner takes care of it.

Thanks Man! Are Blasters Easy To Blow Up? just il be using a private track and it will only be myself and a neighbours son that will be on it and hes 11 or 12. just when im on a track with not alot of people i tend to ride the quad to its limit. the track im going to is 3 times the size of my local public track just don't want to have to keep rebuilding the thing if it can't take it. put it this way i had a rm 125 a couple of months ago and i done a fresh build when i got it and i was only out about a hour and i blew the thing up. and then i decided to try a quad to see if id have more luck lol but just dunno if id be better off riding it easier until i have money to buy a 4 stroke quad.

cheers man!

Most blasters that have problems are were owned by teens that dont know how to properly maintain a 2 stroke.. or warm them up, ya cant start it and beat it, or jetting.. any improvement to air flow in or out changes jetting.....
Best advice to a new to 2 stroke owner if read.. and warm up.. sounds lame but beating a cold motor is terror on it!!! I let idle for 2-3 min if its warm outside tjen slowly work tjrew the throttle tell cylinder is warm.. then clear it out and give er hell!!

As for reliable.. my first blaster i had well over 100 hours on it over 6 months time... my old 88 lt250r... i had prolly 30 tanks of fuel threw ot beating its ass on the river.. i ride hard!! Only time im under 5k rpms is warm up and idle :) .. sold it a year ago and the new owner is still runnin it just how i sold it to him..
Most reliable sport 2 stroke would prolly be the honda 250r... most reliable sport 4.. 400ex there known to run forever if leave the internals stock... most reliable 2 stroke utility.. prolly Polaris 250 trail boss or blazer... hardly see one that needs rebuikding.. i had one that made it 19 years on original top end... reliable.4 stroke utility... honda foreman 450 or suki king quad....

Just my opinoin

If it.blew up it wasnt rebuild properly, properly broke it, or jetted properly... i feel for reliability .. jet it perfect then go one main jet bigger... quality fuel and quality oil

Awesome Man! i was thinking about a lt250r but i dunno if i can get another one in my area as there is only one in my area for sale and its still 200 miles away. i was going to buy it but my grandad won't ask his friend for a loan of the money lol but i think the guy had it on the website i use last year but he still hasn't sold it if he still has it in a couple of months il defo buy it :) just fancy a spare quad so i don't have to wait months before i get out .

Im running a 87 lt250r with a ported 89 motor, holeshots white bros shocks, lrd pipe and some other goodies.. i got into it cheap... and love it.. needs little sh*t like new bars, a left outter tie rod end, and tubes in the front tires ( prollly rims there tweeked n beads leak).. but still a animalmm and out runs a friends yfz450.. and hands with a friends outlander 800r with power programmer and exhauat

I Rode My stock 2000 Model For Almost 4 Years And Only Replaced The Clutch In Those 4 Years , The Rings Went First Then Took the Piston With it , As long as You Do Required Maintenance And Proper Checks They Last A While !

Thanks Man :) iv got a wiseco piston coming from the states for it so once its fitted if it runs it runs but if not it can stay non running until i get my lt250r lol then the blaster will be getting done :D

No problem , good Choice on the Wiseco , There The Best Brand Piston for 2 Strokes in My Opinion , for 4 Pokes I Like Athena , They always had quality when I installed them !

Did you have the cylinder properly measured for that piston? Has to be measured @ top, middle, bottom, front to back, side to side, six measurements. That will tell if it's out of round, and/or tapered wear on it. Plus the Wiesco needs about .001 more clearance than Yamaha/ cast piston.

i never mate if it doesn't fit il just send it back anyway as i won't get blaster running to i make money to get reeds as my reeds cage was broken.

for the firse 8 or 9 months i owned my blaster i had nothing but problems mostly with the carb but once i got the carb fixed i havent had a problem out of it

Awesome Man! im going to be purchasing another quad either end of the year or beginning of next as a spare just incase lol but dunno what i want either a 2 stroke banshee or a 4 stroke TRX Or yzf 450 but not sure yet.. the reeds on my reed cage are broken anyway dunno but one of them are missing... dunno if its in the engine or its not been there in the first place. but if i get anymore bother of it like if it doesn't run once piston is fitted and reeds are fixed il be leaving it and getting it fixed once i get another quad as id rather spend on another quad then spend on the blaster then that way i can still get out to use a quad while fixing the other.

Im the same way :) yea I have to agree 250R is the most balanced in 87 but the strongest motor of that line of hondas was I think was in 1990, suzuki typically has a good suspension in 91 and kawasaki Tecate has the strongest motor by far in 89 but are exceptionally rare and rarer still is one that starts on a first kick basis, with out any hichups. however suzukis are usally bored out to sh*t. so keep in mind to ask plenty of questions and always bring your tooks when your window shopping new quads :)

88-89 were the best trx250r motors.. yescmost sukis have been rebuilt many times.. mine is only. 020 over :) my last one was 80 over.and.going over 2 years on it....
