Anyone ever seen this happed?

I use Denatured Alcohol for everything. Cleaning off grease, prepping for primer, getting the old lawnmower running after a cold winter :p I always have a jug of it in the shed!

It evaporates an leaves no residue! I use it at work alot, for cleaning/disinfecting plastic pipe/valves.

BTW-nice lapping job!

Thanks bro!!!

Yea i questioned whether it worked and how well.

Watching ken do it i was like yea right ill never get his results. The proof was when i threw a straight edge on it and couldnt get a 2 thousandths feeler gauge anywhere between the head and flat edge.

Ive learned my lesson with using anything but oem but i thought these were quality since they came with the wiseco piston kit.Guess i was wrong so now i got a yamaha oem head gasket on the way.

Had the old lady seen the mess on the counter the next morning she woulda flipped lol the only thing i wasnt prepared for was the mess. For this reason im not allowed to work on things in the house also could have been from having my 240BBK on the bar for 3 months. It was built and clean and ready to install i just thought it made a nice looking center peice...sadly she didnt.:-/

LOL i didnt mean anything disrespectful but for lack of better description its basically what i said a ghetto magnafluxing is it not?

To be honest if i had the funds to buy the cool head now i would and not even dick with the stock one.But i dont so i went ahead and made this the best i can to my abilities and its turned out descent for never trying that method before.

Yea i hope its good to go from here out to bro thanks for the tips and advice and i never said i wouldnt use it or didnt appreciate it i was just confused initially as to what you meant.

I know you weren't be disrespectful, it is what it is, even my tones probably came across a bit douchey now that I've read back...definitely not the case.

Not really ghetto magnafluxing though. By ghetto, I'm assuming you mean inexpensive and half-assed...something my brother would do. This doesn't even have to do with checking the block or head while it is apart, just after it is run, under compression and heat...if there is any fluid oozing out a gasket, if it hasn't collected dust to be visible, it will collect and goop the baby powder. We used to use this method in very low psi (0-5psi) hydro systems on bulk heads and fittings in negative atmospheric chambers, to make sure we weren't leaking in sensitive systems tests. Soaping water solution doesn't work well with hydro systems, only pneumatic...go figure. Anyhow, instead of tearing everything back apart, we would basically powder like a forensic scientist and look for clumping. Saved lots of time and $$$. You would be surprised at how minute (my-noot) of a trace in a sealing surface and a poor compression gasket can lead to a leak, even at the lightest pressure. Besides, $1 at Dollar General for a bottle of powder, that's a pretty cheap check...plus leaves your machine smelling girly nice. I:I

Hell yea bro no prob!Ill keep that in mind for future reference.

I actually just put her back together a few mins ago and added die to the coolant i decided with all the nooks and crannies for things to leak id be time ahead if i have to diagnose and issue but now that im on the same page on what you were getting at i think thats a good idea and will definately use it god forbid i have or develop a leak.

This time i used the permatex copper gasket adhesive along with teflon paste on acorn style nuts.Igot to looking at aftermarket heads and they use them so theres got to be a reason and google search showed the same "wicking" up the threads i had.

I also went 25 ft lbs instead 20 and went in increments of 5 ft lbs letting it sit a few mins in between the torquing.so if it leaks this time i have no clue why it would be both the jugs and head were milled, the gaskets a brand new oem yamaha gasket and i cleaned both surfaces with acetone 3 times before installing.so im certain i got all the details covered.

Make sure to do your heat cycles too, that will get everything to seat properly...then of course, torque check all your nuts and bolts. After that, if it isn't leaking, along with the Permatex Copper Gasket Sealant, you should be solid...ride it like you stole it with no intentions of getting caught. I:I
