Having an issue where the bike won't open up at about half throttle through any gear. I rebuilt the carb and just replaced the reed valves. It seems a little better. I'm not real knowledgeable on carburetors unfortunately. I turned the air/fuel screw 1.5 turns out like I've been reading. Any other "settings" that I should try that would cause this issue?

So your jets are brand new?? If not I would go with what Blasterboy91 said, and take off your main jet... Blow some carb cleaner through it.. you may have picked up some dirt.

Nahh, jet is brand new. I have fresh 93 fuel mixed 32:1 w/ a filter before it hits the carb. I'm actually leaning towards tors but it's weird because when I follow the steps in the diy for tors removal it doesn't work on mine. When I disconnect the "tors brain" the bike revs really high when it starts and I can't idle it down. Maybe I'm not doing something right?

Maybe the fuel filter is restricting flow... It seems someone had that problem recently.. When they removed the inline filter it cleared it up.

Yea would check the fuel filter just like timsyfz^^^ said. I have heard of several guys having problems with the filters. As far that the TORS are you sure you are removing everything attached to the TORS system?? I have never heard of somebody having a problem after revoving the TORS. Only with the TORS system still active.

TORS: Unplugged the cable coming from the "throttle box", removed the TORS "brain", and unplugged the cable from the TORS unit on the carb. That's it right?

if its a newer model you have cross some wires, just don't remember which ones right now, someone else might chime in that remembers though...

if its an 03 or above you have to unplug the wires from the tors going into your throttle box on the handlebars. then splice the wires together down on the bottom. and if you still have an ebrake there is a line from the tors to that on the left side of the handle bars. i removed my ebrake so i had to disconnect the wires on the ebrake handle. thats if ur bike is an 03' or up. i couldnt figure out wat was wrong with it for over a month. it doesnt rev over like basically idle and then it wouldnt hold an idle and it would rev up... but also u may have to small or to big of a main jet if its revving high like that... wat do u have done to the bike?? and wats the size jet in there so we can help u with a size?? also check for air leajs around the carb connecting to airbox and to motor... and alsooo take ur plug out and see wat color it is and thatll tell u if ur to rich or lean...> black is to rich... white to lean...

but thinkin of it now if u removed the brain then its not an 03' or above b/c we dont have a brain for the tors its actually located in the cdi... hopefully u didnt remove the cdi...

I don't think it's the CDI, what I disconnected just had a white plug w/ a yellow and black wire going to it. I'm running a 240 main right now. Nothing is really done to the bike. Moose air filter, FMF fatty is about it.

wat year is ur bike? and wats ur plug look like... if u have ur airbox lid on with a 240 it may be to rich... take the lid off and see how it runs. and u must have a silencer obvisouly but yea u may be running rich. take the lid off and put the seat back on and start it and see how it goes.

mine is a 2000 an all i had to do is cut the wires just before the tors an twisted them togather an that worked for me i didnt disconect anything else

Thanks everyone for all the info. I will try a few of these suggestions. In my desparation I bought a 30mm Trenga aftermarket carb in the For Sale forum here that I'm going to try to. Haven't gotten it yet. I'll let you know what I find.

i think that was a waste of money...you should have jus bought a bigger jet...unless you got modds i wouldnt have done it..but its your bike...dont tripp

Well, at least when I get it I can rule out the carb. The guy I'm buying it from said it ran great on his bike w/ no mods. I can also completely eliminate the TORS this way to. If it turns out that I don't need it I'll just sell it or something.

Your having a fueling issue.

Mine did the same thing. Bike had pipe, silencer, K&N. Stock jetting on the carb, 230 main. Granted I had a multipart problem, and once I eliminated a clogged fuel filter it was significantly better. But I still could not open it up.

Replaced jet with a 260 main. MUCH better.

Removed airbox lid, and had to go up to a 290 main jet, 75* out, 50%ish humidity, 1000 feet elevation.

It doesnt take much to have to rejet.

Thanks carnage. I'm going to pick up some more jets to experiment. I'm removing fuel filter first and trying that.
