are there any mods that you can do to a stock airbox, excluding lid mods w/out rejetting? if there aren't, what can be done along w/ rejetting? no holes or anything, like maybe cutting a section out or something. i'll look at mine tomorrow sometime and report back if i find something out.

i was riding in water/mud with my stock airbox (with stock intake tube) and the tube and airbox got mud and water in it, causing my carb slide to be scored/scrathed due to the mud inside it. if i drilled holes wouldnt this get worse???

yeah, it would defintately get worse. i don't think i'm gonna want to spend that much money on an airbox. i think i might just get a plastic/rubber pipe and put it directly from the carb to the air filter, but just get a different kind of filter. that's pretty much what they do with the aluminum box.

i actually found something worth doing. i took off the stock boot, used the metal gasket and cut out a plastic piece in the same shape. i cut the carb end off the boot and attached it to pvc pipe. then, i put a 45 degree elbow and then added a pice like 2-3 inches long and put another 45 elbow and it goes into the box. i used one of my old cylinder airfliters from my other quad and all set. i just have to go out and buy plumbers glue and buy real 45 elbows. it is the same structure as the cfm airbox for a lot less money.

if you look at a pic of a CFM air box, it is the same type of routing as that. and, if you want, you could potentially use up to like 3.5 to 4 inch pipe. the wider the pipe from the carb to the filter, the more air flow. i just need to pick up some real elbows and maybe wider pipe and i'll do a DIY. just wondering if i'll have to rejet. i'm gonna put the lid w/ small holes back on though.
