airbox and 400 ex shock

Factory 7 airbox with 400ex shock any one had this combo?

want to know before i buy my shocks

I read in in the sticky that the stock box has to be bent some.

if the factory 7 box is anything like the CFM it will fit fine. and they almost looks the same to me.

ok, so can someone give me the link for the 400ex DIY? I cant find it, but i was pretty sure it was on here. It may have been on blutraxx though.

all u need to do is order some bushings from Ken OConnor Racing, High Performance Motocross Engines, Performance Modifications, Motorcycle valve jobs, Motorcycle Crankshaft Rebuilds, Motocross Cylinder Porting, Motocross Cylinder Head Porting and drill the bottom mount to 12mm i think

yup what the Canuck said . Bottom mount is either 11 or 12mm , whatever drill bit passes through the 400ex bottom mount with no play , thats what it is .

that stinks... whats a good shock that wont rub, and wont break the bank either?

I cant really justify puting 600+ into elkas.

a trx250r shock will work great, it is a tiny bit longer, but fits the same sway as the 400ex and the 250r shock has a remote resi which will solve the clearance prollums

the trx250r needs no other bushings, no idea where that started

and when you say longer, are you talking 1-2 inches, or 4-5 inches?

couldn't tell the exact length, but it raised the back of my blasty 2-3 inches

the top cross bushing needs a little grinding on the ends to fit in, my bottom hole was egged out so i had to redrill it



but if the bottom bolt is in good shape, it'll bolt right on after modding the top and its got rebound and compression adjustments and i personally really like it

2-3" might be a good thing. its hard to say though, but right now when i sit on my blaster it has maybe an inch left in the rears befor it bottoms out. Im not a light guy 190lbs.

im leaning towards the works shocks becuase i woudl think its newer.

but i guess i coudl also just get a seal kit and the OEM one.

if u read the description it needs a new bumper and a rebuild

its still dirt cheap....i can rebuild them at home for around 50 bucks , and the bumpers are available from works

i'll wait and see whats up in a couple weeks. But sounds like im goign to do a 250r rear adn a 450r front. as long as i can find the shock adapter.
