Advice, learned the hard way

Wow, yeah, you got pretty lucky with that. Last winter I was in a group of about 7 guys on snowmobiles, going down a trail and along one side there was a chicken wire fence with a barb wire line across the top, I was riding on the side of the trail closest to it, hit a woop down, veered towards it, tried to steer away so the back of the ski would scrape and bounce me back, but it wouldn't let me because of the slope. Ski went into the hole in the chicken wire, ass end bucked up, I went flying up, luckily the bars saved me by hitting my thighs, barbed wire is pretty serious stuff if you mess with it.
 
You are one heck of a lucky guy, barbed wire usually does a better job.

I had a mate that was straining barb when it broke, messed him really badly.
