So heres the deal, I have an '01 Blaster that has been running fantastic since I bought it 2-3 weeks ago, Took it up in the mountains today and randomly it started running like sh*t. As it sits right now First gear has its usual amount of power for about 7-10 seconds then it looses all power there-after. I found that using the throttle for a normal aceleration Im only getting like 1/2 the amount of power and acceleration.. Same situation when your ease on it.

1st and 2nd gear are like this and I havent been able to get it into any higher gears. My buddy is a mechanic and he looked it over and tried messin with alot of stuff I have no knowledge about, but even so we could not fix the probelm.

Anyone experience this before? Anything I should focus on or is this a "dealer problem"? I thought it might not be getting enough fuel but it is getting a good flow and I'm not sure what else we're overlooking

Sorry for not being very specific, I'm not mechanically inclined.. But any help would be greatly appreciated.. Even if its just listing Ideas.

Thanks Guys

We couldnt have been higher than 2-3k feet el. This all happened this morning. The thing rode fine and while in motion i noticed the probelm progressivly getting worse. I dont know what the Tors is.. If its something usually on the bike its probably not removed. If its a jetting problem what is involved in that?

changing ur main jet is very easy. four screws on the bottom of ur stock carb (keyword is stock) and ur main jet is in the middle just chilling there. take it out and bump it up or down depending on wat u need. at ur house wat is the elevation? and u said the mountains are 2-3k feet. does it run fine at ur house?

if your riding in Higher Altitude your jetting will be off cause the air gets thinner and will run richer so just come down on the main a lil bit. or try leaning out the needle.

ya better start with a good plug read first, before leaning it out, or you're gonna fry it, do a search on here or google for "reading plugs", lets see what that tells ya before changing jets, is your air filter clean?? and id also check all my electrical connections, especially the ground at the coil, and the plug boot, make sure it's screwed on tight
and then pull that carb and give it a good cleaning,

Awesome. Thanks for all the advise. I'm gonna take a look at it later this week. Ill post results. if anythings out of the ordinary

Thansk guys, alot of helpful info. Ill take a look at it early in the week. Just a thought.. The owner told me this was pre-mixed.. So it should take regular gasoline and mix the oil/gas automatically right? My question is are there two seperate reseviors for the "Motor Oil" and the "Mixing Oil" or whatever you wanna call it? I could only locate one resevior.. Is it possible this is the problem? I have been putting regular gasoline in the thing but if I was ill-informed and it needs to be mixed before filled in the tank could this indeed be my issue? Im at work now and Im gonan read through the owners manual to make sure nothings odd about thsi bike..

Meanwhile.. Thanks for the info again guys.. This site IS very helpful

Does it have the oil injection on? If you look back by the rear tires right under the fenders there should be a jug if that is not there then you have to mix the gas and oil together. my suggestion is that if this oil injection is there you should buy a block off kit because the injection system is prone to failure.

yeah dont run it again till you fully understand if it still has the injection system still on it, and you put the right oil in the right place, if the injection system is still there, then lift your seat, and see the injection oil fill cap, thats where you put a good 2 stroke oil,
maxima, amsoil, yamalube, ect......, and put straight gas in the tank
but if that little tank is missing from above the left rear tire, someone removed the injection system, which is popular, then you have to mix the oil and gas, most guys run a 32:1 mixture,
and as for the transmission oil, theres a little window on the bottom of the motor below the kicker, the oil level should be between the 2 lines, your dealer will have a 2 stroke oil for that too
belray gearsaver or yamaha ect......

yes one for tranny oil located on the right side of ur motor and under neath ur rear fender(left) which one have u found? remember there are no such things as dumb questions.

All good stuff guys but I regularly change altitude 2-3 thou feet without serious power probs. Not to say that jetting can't be an issue, but it should run rich at higher alt. Not lean.

And don't discount the TORS yet. It's an SOB when it starts acting up.
