Hello,

I'm fixing up a blaster and I had to take off all the a arms or control arms for the quad. I got them painted and am trying to put it back together, however I can't get the nut for the bottom control arms to tighten enough to get the cotterpin in. As I tighten it, the ball joint just spins with it. I try getting a pair of pliers in to hold the ball joint but at the same time, I'm not trying to destroy the boot. Is there a better way to reassemble the bottom a arm? Any help/ideas are much appreciated!

You need to get the nut Back off and clean up the threads on the shaft or in the nut, until the nut will screw fully on with your fingers.

You may be able to jack the joint into the taper to get the nut to undo.

Do not keep trying to get it on!

In addition to what Blaaster has suggested, make sure there are no burrs on the joint shaft or in the knuckle. Make sure both are free of oil or such. Seat joint into knuckle with dead blow or BMFH and block of wood. May even have to clamp joint and knuckle. If you have an impact use that.

Like all stated above already. Give the ball joint a wack with a hammer with a piece of wood. It should wedge it tight enough to start the nut pull the ball joiñt in. Also lije stated clean area with brake clean so no oil or grease helos it spin and u need good clean threads.

I have also heated the spindle where ball joint goes in and slam ball joint in when hot so when it cools it tightens to the ball joint.

If all your threads are good, something I have done is use a G clamp to press the spindle and the ball joint together, just get it to fit somehow it only needs a little pressure to hold it.
