Hello all, new here and new to the Blaster. I have an 89 Blaster that I cant seem to get running. Its been sitting in our shop for many years. My brother had it and rebuilt the engine. Has not ran since then. It sat in the shop for many years later. I decided to take a crack at it and just cant seem to get it running. I put a new CDI box on (after market). New coil, coil wire, cap and plug (after market). Rebuilt stator (OEM). New reed valve (OEM). New carb. (OEM). Tors system is disconnected per manual. Compression is between 90 and 120 psi. Did a leak down test and holds pressure very well. Oil pump is still hooked up and functioning properly. Woodruff key is in good condition. Rotor is original although I cleaned it up with sandpaper and seems to be ok. I have spark, fuel, air, and compression, with no leaks. Was backfiring occasionally while trying to kick start. Due to the backfiring, I was thinking it was a timing issue. Turns out there is no timing adjustment on the 89. Pulled the plug after much kicking and found plug wet. Pulled the exhaust off the engine and kicked the kick start attempting to expel any oil or fuel that may be resting in the crank case. After reattaching the exhaust it fired up for like 10-15 seconds. Trying to keep it going I had to keep on the throttle, "blipping" it as best i could although it bogged out reguardless of what i did. After that she would not run at all, and still has not. Thought i should try a hotter plug, so i now have a B7, as opposed to the B8. Still nothing!!! Going to attempt to pull it behind the truck today and "bump start" it. If anyone could possibly shed some light on what may be going on here please feel free to comment.
