a guy locally has one that's been in storage for 10yrs supposedly, looks stock and I can go check it out, says obo so I figure I can get it for like $1500 almost a garantee

86 250r 3wheel ATV

just wondering if guys think it's a good deal? Ideally I want a quad but figure for $1500 it'd probably be hard to beat..

also do they share the same frame and back half? like I could convert it to a quad with a different front end? I think I'd be holding my breath for a long while if I was to try and find a busted trx 250r that needs a motor and back half that would make it worth switching... also I suppose since I'm new to riding I should ask how much harder is a trike to ride? I figured to jump would be alot harder since the front is significantly lighter? I want something I can catch small air with and just blaze trails and figured I wanted a quad and my buddy was gonna sell me his blaster for $900 but I figured a 250r at $1500 is probably a better deal..

a trike would be much harder, the front comes off the ground almost every time you hit the thottle and dont handle nearly as well as quad they roll so much easier

shut yo mouf willis!!!!! only time they roll easyer is in experiance... isince i have started riding iv only crash a trike 2 times... once was beyond my control ( woulda happened on a quad to)

1800 for stock is as bit much.. being that its not super clean... ... there powerfully though..

some1 been drinkin? LOL

yeah, I gotta wait til wednesday as we go to honolulu tonight (my daughter gotta go get an MRI see if we can figure out her seizure issue) and we don't come back til wednesday :( so IF he still has it I'll go check it out... said he ran it this past weekend pulled it outta storage cleaned the carb and filled her up and went riding...

my main question I suppose is can it beat a banshee stock for stock or modded for modded? I can always find a blaster and the dude said they DO make a bolt on kit to convert it to a quad :D

stock for stock you should mop banshee's if you can ride... modded for modded the atc250r will kick a banshee's ass... ..

they USEDTO make a quad kit for them, astro made it... i personnaly wouldnt buy it if you have intentions on converting it to a quad. if thats your intentions please dont buy it,

here is some help to make you keep it 3 wheeled

you do realize that is more than it cost brand new?? Offer him 12, tell him its sat so long, the carb needs to be redone, the main bearings crank and cylinder may have oxidation and all need freshening. I used to have a 250r, raged on it...then started riding a quad, 3 years after riding a quads I got on a friends 3 wheeler at glamis and almost died 3 times on the way to the bathroom.... The thought I used to ride one like an animal scares the hell out of me heheheheeh

The quad kits are havy and dont have much travel. I have seen 250r motors stuffed in blasters, and by machining the bushings you can stick a 250r swingarm on a blaster, with the happy 250r bearing carrier, brakes and axle..... you need to make a link elimantor for it though, but then you have 12" of travel...

really a 250r swinger on a blasty?? that is freekin awesome!! I:I i would love to see someonw with pics of it done.

Ya that babys sweet... Alot of power for three wheels though IMO. A trike is a whole different animal, dont get me wrong i love em but 1800 could buy a nice quad as well!

here you see almost stock blasters for more than 1800.. in fact there's one right now for 1900 LOL..

just hard to get anything here for good deals. here a good deal is buying a bike that needs the carb cleaned because someone thinks the bike's broken lol

3 wheelers are are completely different breed. In every way they can be.
They are not for everyone but if you (acquire the taste) for them and have that skill to actually ride one properly, they are quite versatile in a very strange kind of way. If you do not know what you are doing or run careless it WILL catch up with you, and you WILL get dead. :D

$1800 is somewhat fair for that, beings it is original and un-molested, it is the sought after last year 1986, it has been stored out of the elements(although there looks to be surface rust throughout, exhaust, etc) but an overall decent deal. $1500 would be much better, but you ARE in Hawaii and the market is always somewhat locked for these original high end trikes.

I owned an 86 250r, along with an 86 350x. Both were beasts, both were modded and both I almost died on like 765 times(And I consider myself an excellent 3 wheel rider). But, it is what it is, a very unique style of riding, and if you can master it you are untouchable, even to the mighty Banshee, for sure.

My suggestion is if ya think you got what it takes to NOT die, get him to $1500 and start to go through EVERYTHING, as this bike did sit and will need attention. Any 250r is just plain out bad A$$ to own and run, so much fun and wicked fast. Talk about a slider/drifter, to say the least.

On the other hand, you are on BlasterForum, so of course we are gonna say stay away from it and start to build yourself the kick a$$ Hawaiiin' Blasty Brah!!!!!! I:I

IMO those trikes are legendary. If you do buy it PLEASE do not butcher it up to make a quad. That one looks pretty clean, considering it's 25 years old!

well, i think its worth 1800, but dunno if i'd pay that. offer him 13-1400 and see where it goes. i had a chance to get a mint 86 with a wiseco pro lite piston and drag porting for only 1300 bucks back in Feb, but i hit a frickin' pothole and had to get new tires instead. idk it's your decision.

here's a trx 250r I found, only one... your looking at what these idiots think most bikes are worth, I see a yfz450 looks to be primer gray for more he's had it posted and says don't come around offering $3,000 and crap and I'm like wtf you'd be LUCKY to find anyone that stupid lol..

1986 honda 250r

the missle kit looks cool but those guys said it handles like crap... I probably won't get it but I'll try to fix and sell the 96 LT80 and see where it leaves me and what I end up getting :)
