3mm Stroker

increases the stroke by 3mm....
giving it more torque and cc.
i suggest getting the ports lined up with the stroker crank if your serious about it.

Your bike will run like ass if you dont get your ports adjusted to match. If you bike is already ported you are probably going to have to get a new cylinder and get it port matched again.

I dont see why they wouldnt line up ? My cyl is not ported.. and when i installed the Vito stroker crank i carefully looked that the ports was aligned up.. they did.. perfectly with the spacerplate supplied.. ..

with the spacer plate the port floors could very well have matched the piston crown at BDC but.. the added stroke throws the blowdown tiem WAY off.. adding stroke effects the transfer duration more drastically than the exhaust duration.. soooo it shorten the blowdown time.. some "engine builders" and i use that term loosly think a blowdown time of 28 is a good setup... but actual knowledgeable people will tell you that is NOT a good or even moderatly close to good setup..

28 degree blow down works great for two cycle engines that do not have a tuned exhaust pipe like a weed wacker.
Maybe some people build engines like weed wackers....
LOL
Yea your right Chris the ports can be all jacked up when building a stroker

What about your right Stephen...I said it was going to be jacked up first!

Alright lets give Stephen credit, he must be doing some research on engine set ups..... Blow down for those who are not sure= when the exhaust port cracks to when the first transfer port cracks in relation to crank angle

Kennedy just told you, put a degree wheel on the end of the crank and when the exhaust starts to open see what the wheel is, you can put it at zero then continue turning the engine over until the transfer ports open and read the wheel again that will tell you your blowdown time, if you don't understand how to set up a degree wheel or own one then dont bother trying to figure it out, and like they already said 28 isn't what you want and if you don't have porting tools to correct this, then send your cylinder to the guys that understand it and have the tools

and having a 3 mil stroker gives you alot of lee-way to set your port timing up the way it needs to be, you can correct alot of things and the spacer plate will probably get discarded if you have the necessary tools (like Kennedy) to re-cut the head and change yout port timing.

What do you want blow down time to be? Done ton of four stroke stroker engine no two stroke new ball game for me looking for help. Thanks

Can a stroker be added that doesn't use a plate and therefore can not be detected from outside? i.e. stealth, sleeper

Friend of mine installed the 3mm, and had the cases machine and the cylinder port matched, by a very reputable builder. I didn't think it was made all that well, it had these cheap looking plastic spacers. Sure enough it grenaded his engine:o, maybe it was a manufacturing flaw? Personally I want to get a Hot Rods 4mm stroker, but I wanna show pics of the failure to Kennedy and the motor builder and see if the crank was a poorly manufactured unit. I'm very serious about rebuilding the bottom end and having some engine work done in the future. Kennedy have you had any problems with the 3mm+ crank in engines you've built? Would you reccomend the 4mm hotrod over it? Sorry for the threadjack, and pics to come later. I'll PM ya next time.

Continue discussion.

on the vitos cranks the delrin stuffers seperate from the crank webs after awhile. The vitos cranks also have the big end of the connecting rod cut down so you dont have to trench the cases.Your better off getting the +4 from hotrods for that price then cut the cases.
