the chain i had before worked great, but the master link broke so i was hoping to buy a new master link and have it working again. the old master link must have been stretched because the new one won't fit. i just plan to order a new chain but since there is an extended swingarm i dont know how big to get it. the old chain has 100 links (including the master link) and its too small. how big should i go and where can i get one cheap?

did you loosen up the adjusters on the back? you may need to loosen it and then readjust the chain after putting the new masterlink in

i may get ripped for this, but i usually go to tractor supply and buy a 10 foot section for about $20. ive used the farm impliment chains on several street bikes with no proplems with stretching or failure. they arent as pretty as the colorful ones you can buy, but for a quarter of the price and i cud usually get two bikes worth, it worked for me. im sure others probably havent been as lucky as i have with them, but thats my money concious $.02

those chains your talking about are non-oring chains and they wear out faster then atv chain...

what i did was buy a kfx450 chain which i think was about a 120 link chain then i cut it down and it was only $40....

they arent optimal, but i ran one on my kz1000 for two years and 6 thousand miles without a prob. i know they arent the best for the application, but for someone thats strapped for cash, they are an easy fix to jump back on and ride untilol they get the good stuff. just a hint for anyone that needs one now and doesnt wanna wait for a good ebay deal, or doesnt wanna cough up alot. just my opinion.

plenty of people run non o-ring chains, they don't last as long, and in the long run comes out about a wash in the long run
