Also check the plug boot itself.Make sure it is making contact.Can't hurt to try and turn clockwise to tighten up the cennection.Or unscrew it,cut 1/2 inch off and reinstall the boot.

Try what Dualstroke Told ya. Sounds like that's your problem.

So did a little testing and the new coil was reading good. And the other 2 boots were dead! The coils are fine but the boot... Are these boots known for burning up?

YUP.​

Cut a bit off and try again.

I my experience the cable seems to destroy itself after a time of use and continual removal.

Cut a little piece off and still no reading. .. I'm going to try the new coil on the blue one tomorrow and see again after cleaning up the grounds. Then I will try to remove some of the paint off the frame so I can put the grounds on it.

You can also test your stator with An ohm meter. The values are in the manual.

Forget how wire harness is exactly :-[ but ground has to get from engine/stator to frame. Try running ground from coil mount direct to engine. Stock boot has a resistor which will burn out over time. Trim wire 1/4". Also check switch or by-pass temporarily.

The 88-02 harness gets grounded in 2 spots,one under the voltage regulator and one on the coil mount. Those all tie into the grounds throughout the whole harness. A multi meter will tell you if your grounds are good. New boots can be had at any auto parts store for a few bucks.

I will go out and take a look. I will text the grounds and see if I get anything. I knew you could test the stator but I thought it had to be kicked when testing it, not sure why I thought that.

Just spent an hour sanding the grounds, testing and tring and still no spark on both. Everything was giving me a reading.

Reading said it was. Sems a little weak but should have some spark. Looks dirty to me. Waiting on a flywheel puller.

I would clean the flywheel magnets

Ok I was also going to clean the grounds in the stator to see if It can produce more. The flywheel is rusty on the blue and the red one isn't rusty.

I know that rust will mess up thhe conductivity I just fixed a generator wouldn't spark because of rust on the flywheel[traded off along with gs1000 engine for the 98 blasty

my boss had left the generator outside behind the shed for 12 years[around that he says]because it didn't produce power.I cleaned the brushes the carb and the flywheel it sat for a few months after and still starts 1 pull I am amazed at what proplr throw away let em be poor like me and see what they throw out
