you know you could also go smaller on the rear to get more top speed.

Yes, but they are more expensive and the smallest rear I have found is a 38T that requires you to grind the rear sprocket hub because "the hub is bigger than the sprocket" and it also takes 3T in the rear to equal 1T in the front, so I have been told.

Vitos also makes a 15T front sprocket, anyone used this?
BLASTERFRONTSPROCKETS::...

i believe you have to mod the flywheel cover to fit a 15 t ???,
and most guys on here are running a 14t with 18" rears, which i just happen to have a like new, Primary Drive 14t, 1 ride on it, sitting here, i didnt like it with my 20 rears
how's $15 shipped

according to that gearing calculator a 14T wouldn't even get me back up to the stock gear ratio, unless I got a smaller rear sprocket too. So whats the smallest rear sprocket someone has used?

i think i'd skip that calculator, and use what has been proven to work with 18's, by many members on here.............
14/40
14/38

what was the purpose of getting 18's for anyway ????
the track is the only place they belong, not on the trails

ya true, but if you really wanted top speed you wouldn't have gotten 18" tires.

I plan on getting 20's when these wear down. I got too good of a deal to pass up, the guy was asking the same price with or without tires, so I got them with the 18's.

well then hurry up and get them tires spinning, cause there is no inexpensive cure all for top speed with 18's, by the time you buy all new sprockets and chain, you coulda just bought 20" tires
i'd suggest just to wait it out

Haha I plan on it, but even with 20's I want more! Im not planning on going like stupid fast through trees, but even with stock gearing and tires 1ST gear is useless to me. Especially when drag racing, I start in 2ND gear and still can't hook up unless it has just rained.

umm wouldn't rain make it not hook. i know my quad hooks better on drt dirt than wet dirt.

I ride on sandy trails in northern WI, when it rains it seems to change the consistency of dirt instead of it turning muddy. All I know is that if i do a 2ND gear start when it hasn't rained I sit and spin no matter how far back I sit on the seat and lean back, and if I do the same thing after it rains the front end comes up and I have to let off and lean forward.

But back to the sprocket, anyone ever used a 15T?

last summers trip to busco was like that, the rain actually packed the sand, making it more sticky

yeah man.. you need to cut out some of the plastic flywheel cover. that is all. really easy to do. i used a dremel with a small cutoff wheel.
