Just replaced the piston in my quad and now I can't get it to run right. Hard to even get it started but when I do it loses a lot of power, say I'm going up a very small hill in third gear and give it a little gas it'll act like its gonna die and even when I'm just crusing along itll bog down when I give it gas. Can anyone help?

new plug ?
good spark ?
fresh fuel ?
mix 32:1 or oil injection....injection pump primed ?
piston in the right direction ?
bored/honed by a reputable shop to fit that exact piston ?
whats the compression ?
leakdown tested ?
reeds good ?
carb cleaned while off ?
airfilter clean ?
pipe/silencer not clogged ? (mice nest while sitting are common)
add any mods ?
what carb and jetting ?

answer as many of those as you can to help us help you

New plug. Good spark. Fresh fuel. I don't mix 32:1 but I don't race. Mainly trail ride. I installed the piston myself and facing the right direction. Took it to my buddies shop and was only getting 30lbs of compression. Took everything apart to find that the rings are getting sick in the grooves of the piston.company I ordered from said they can't do anything because it's already been installed but when you look at it you can see that the grooves weren't straight :( I don't know if I'm gonna need a new one but done a little work to where the rings don't stick and now I still doesn't have the power it should but better compression. I have cleaned the carb and air filter. May need to go down in size with the jets. Put new reeds in it because the old ones busted. It's a keihin carb. Thats what they had on it when I purchased it. Been thinking about putting the original carb on it but will have to buy a new carb attachment and air filter.

I'm new to a lot of this so don't know what the heat cycles are, nor have I asked my buddy. Don't feel too bright lol. Recently discovered that the cylinder is "egg shaped" and I have another one that hasn't been bored or anything so I won't have to buy a new piston but I will have it bored 20 over to fit my piston and hopefully get it all together before long. Ik I'm slow at getting back on here but so much going on. Thanks tho

Had size of that cylinder checked and it was still standard size. We honed it and I bought new standard piston anyways. It is now running and I'm happy. Thanks for the vid. When I get the chance I'll definitely take it and see how it goes.

Just watched the vid and will do it once i get one of these heat guns. Kind of a little late to do it in the beginning but I will still do it.

Had size of that barrel checked and it was still standard size. We sharpened it and I purchased new standard cylinder anyways..
