that summats gonna go wrong as soon as u pull off... well i had that today but carried on riding come flyin round a corner poped a wheelie n bang... piston wen :-/

are you mixing your gas or you still using that O/I system?

or it might of been that semi-flat tire poppin off the rim when you ripped around that corner, lol, j/k, do you think you could rebuild it?

its in my garage now in bits... defo jus the piston... skirts smashed n jammed under the crank but managed to get all the bits out without doin any damage.. just need a piston kit.

yeah still usin the oil pump but thats comin off i prefer mixin it with the petrol

after my big rebuild i was going to put a new piston in but the f*cks at my local shop gave me 3 wrong size pistons after GIVING THEM EXACT MESUREMENTS FOR THE 2ND ONE. there so f*cked. so i gave up cuz i wanted to ride and through the old one in there. it runs fine but i think its going to go soon. the center under it was black and burnt, think it was running lean from the previous owner? he said he ran 50:1 and i did, untill the engine blew(wasnt me) 40:1 now.

yeah usualy u can put old pistons back in aslong as theres no chunks missing etc.. ive decided to go all out.. im going to ship over a wiesco crank and pro-light piston vforce reeds and a few other trick bits.. sendin my engine and parts to local two stroke wizz, gonna have him port n polish it then tweek it a little.. also got a YZ85 carb to go on as mines f*cked.

just took the two stroke tank off and fuk all was cumin out the pipe. plenty of twostroke in the tank but nuffin comin out...

the thread on the slider plate has gone so its got two self tappers holding it in and apparently the YZ85 carb fits straight on same size as the blaster. and it also bogs down badly its been stripped cleaned stripped cleaned agen stripped and cleaned again checked all the jets etc and still wont have bottom end.

Old Thread but I had to chime in at this one: If you are mixing yourself, you should atleast be at 32:1 (4oz. oil to 1 gallon) I've ran this with all of my quads and bikes 250r's, Banshee's, 125's 250's etc. without ANY lube problems or fouling! It's just a proven mix. Just do it and jet along. I:I

man my blaster is still running the stock piston from 88, the engine has never been opened up, only the carb was take off to clean. Anyone this it would make a difference if i tried to do a rebuild on it

ha, probably man. my motor is blown, pretty sure its just the top end, but i'm not takin my head off til i get the gasket kit in, my compression went through the crap shute and dropped to like 30-50psi. so i have to rebuild, my ports were charred black and my pistion is too. pretty sure it's jetted right, i'm runnin a diff carb, but i didn't even have top end powerband when i got my bike, it's turned into a project. haha

dude, if your 88 is running the original piston, you will notice a huge difference with a new top end.
my 94, when i changed out the piston and rings with wiseco, the difference was huge! it went from gassing it and popping the clutch to take off, to gas it and pop the clutch and you are on your ass! top ends are very simple if you have your manual. do blasters have powervalves? if not, then its even simpler. i can knock it out on a regular dirtbike in about 2 hours.
dont forget to hone though
also, old cast iron pistons are ticking time bombs, that piston can shatter on you and you are screwed.
best get a wiseco, they are forged.

Yea man i cant belive she hasne shattered.
But what would a new high quality piston cost and does anybody lighten them

probably around $50-60
go to midwestactioncycle.com
i got a complete top end kit there for $111

im tellin ya guys, itll feel like a completely different quad if you do it right.
buy a cheap stone hone (never a ball hone) and run through your cylinder 2 or 3 times with a drill, or else the rings will not seat properly.
it is very easy.

im also still on my original piston with no issues but i been thinkin latly im gonna do a compression test and its probably pretty good its an 03 but im gonna pull the top end and do a wiseco forged piston prob ..010 over and port and polish the head. im not sure on the price of the port and polish but im thinking the whole top end kit and a bore and port and polish should be around 250 to 300 and from wat im hearing itll be a whole dif. bike power wise. and im rocking an fmf and 28mm carb which will need to be upgraded for best performance but i think will still rip.
