well i just won a yfz450 bill balance rear shock :D. its red and black just like my bike and its a special edition shock so thats cool. i know i have to cut the bottom mounting bracket to be about 1" long. but what else do i need to do to put it on other then a +4 swingarm. and also can someone write up how i should adjust the shock and exactly how please.

um yea just cut the lower shock mount shorter and drill new holes. then compress the spring. there are wrenches that the factory sends with the yfz, i never found any. i just had my moto shop ompress it for me. other then that it took a few washers and 2 new bolts. its easy.

why compress the shock all the way. wouldn't that make for a very very very bouncy and bad ride.

well i want to have it the best ride i can get.

and also with the +4 swingarm when i get i im gonna buy a new change. i have the 14/40 combo for sprokets. what change should i buy and also do i need to buy anything else along with it

You need to get 520 chain. get roller chain or O ring chain just depends on what you want to spend. You need about 110 links for a +4 swingarm.

so i need a 520 o ring chain? do i need 110 links or more?

and what chain should i get? there are like 6 different ones on rockymountainatv.com

get whatever chain you want depending on how much money you want to spend. i didnt spend much on my non-oring chain. i wanted to make sure everything worked before i went a spent a ton on money. you do need a 520 cahin, and buy a 120 link to be safe. you can find them really really cheap on ebay.

ok dont mean to steal thread but i have just got a yfz450 rear shock too. i would like to know if i can install it on a +3 swinger instead of +4

Same way as a +4 swinger. just get a longer 520 chain. i got a 120 link chain just to make sure. Then you need to cut down the bottom mount of the YFZ shock and drill new holes. Then just bolt it in. Also, you can adjust the compression on the shock to stiffer or softer. i made my 100% stiff.

have fun....i am not sure with the +3 but with my +4 i had to cut the bottom cain roller (the one on the frame) off because of the different chain angle becuase of the longer swinger.

all i can find is a xring chain and not an o ring chain. i dont care about how much is it unless its over 150 bucks or something. can someone put the link to the chain i need

All the dealers I have taken my shock too to compress it says it will not shorter the shock so if I just cut the lower mount down will it fit? Or will I have to mod something else

Yea and you can cut the bottom shock mount down to about an inch long. That is what i did actually. Also, your not making the shock short your compressing the spring more. dont know how to explain it but trust me...it makes it shorter.
