so i just bought a set of ASR +3+1 long travel a arms for my 05. from what the guy at ASR said, i will need a specific length yfz450 shock to work right. from what i understand not all yfz shocks are the same size in length. does anyone know what particular year yfz450 front shock will work best with this a arm set up?
also if it helps i have a gforce 6" adjustable rear axle with a 85-86 ATC250R rear shock on it now. if only i can figure this out to get my front end ready for hatfield & mccoy

got this info from another forum thru a google search....
yfz shocks from 04 to 08 are 15 3/4" eye to eye

yet these 06's appear to be 18" (tape shows 4" - 22")
as i know some models are (xc version, 08+ ? )....
2006 06 Yamaha YFZ450 YFZ 450 Front Shocks Suspension Set Pair Right Left | eBay

seeing as how ASR will make arms for any length shock desired, not just a standard length long travel.....

your best bet is to set up the new front asr's, with the quad set around desired ride height +2-3 inches for sag, and tires on the ground,
then measure what length shocks are needed for your exact arms.

and as you can see above, year apparently doesn't mean anything ?
some are 15 3/4"ish, some are 18"ish
be sure to ask the ebay seller what length they are, if not listed, before buying.

maybe these threads will help ?

Do you think 18" would be too much with long travel? And with the atc450r rear shock?

18" too much ?
you have to measure as i explained above.

there is no atc450, atc's were 3 wheelers.
some atc250r shocks will work, but for around the same price for a 20 year newer shock......
the honda 450r shock is a good shock, as is the 400ex, both will bolt right on with a set of ken oconnor racing shock conversion bushings

I would check out Raptorforum. Lots of talk about 450 shocks on that site. I can't remember the specifics on the shocks but I think the 08+ (like I have on my raptor) are totally adjustable but mine aren't LT shocks. I think the LT versions were on the "R" model but I can't remember.
