I was getting ready to sand blast my swing arm and decided to take a look at the bearings. The needle bearings where all rusted up and the rubber seals where like plastic. I used a punch and a large hammer to bang them out.

Two questions:

1. Anyone know of a good rebuild kit for the swingers bearings?

2. Do these bearings press into place or shuld they just slide in. The reason I ask is becasue Im getting ready to paint my swinger and I dont want to bang up my swingers fresh paint by using a press to get the new bearings in.

Also I haven't got a good look at my carrier bearings yet but I assume they will be shot too. Anyone know of a good rebuld kit for them also?

My bad I just posted with the wrong title. Im also doing a write up on my DIY swinger. Doesnt look like I can change the title?

So theres a brand called "set miles" thats a little cheaper? Ive herd of pivot and will prolly buy from that brand but I hope I can find where they are sold cheaper.

Thanks awk08. Are these brands just as good as pivot works? The helboundracing seller doesnt specify the brand. Also your link for the carrier bearings is the same for the swingarms link.

I picked up some zerk fittings today for the swinger. I assume to put one on each side of the swinger and put on one the carrier. Anyone have any sugestions on where to place them? I guess center would be best. And does anyone know the size drill and tap I should use?

Grease nipples (zerks) i put in on my new swinger i made in january

true, and on a stock swinger you can but on mine I had a pocket where the leg of the swinger encases the round tube, so if I just drilled through it I would end up with a opening into the swinger leg where water would get in. That is for the left side. For the right side, Remember that the zerk has thread and that the swinger tube has an inner tube running through. The Zerk thread was going to hit my tube and hence, the thing would not have screwed in tight before hitting the inner tube.

You could space it with washers or something but thats primitive.

Read my thread, I dealt with this there...
