I don't know how I haven't heard of this before, but SUPPOSEDLY Suzuki is stopping production of sport quads(already the LTR) because of EPA regs. Does anybody know anything else about this? :-/

yeah the ltr is the only one not being sold in usa anymore till they fix the emissions bull. im sure they will have it fixed by next years model

honda stopped making sport quads after 09

This is wrong, I just looked at 2 2011 sport models. They did not make 2010 because of so much carry-over from 2009. But you can def get 2011 models of the 250x and trx450, go to honda's website and you can order one to your dealership if willing to pay MSRP. The LTR was already downtuned for EPA hence the cherry bomb mod which was Suzuki's way of getting around the problem/not taking responsibilty for EPA regs. Down-tune then work with separate company to develop mod to unlock ECU. I have read two press-releases regarding this and it looks as if they are developing a new 450 that will not need cherry bomb to unlock ECU. These will be 2012-13 models depending. Production is halted at the time due to the japanese earthquake and part shortages. This could also effect honda, yamaha, etc. causing them to temporarily halt production which will limit 2011 production to what is on hand though this is speculation. Trust me. Suzuki won AMA championship last year with LTR, they are not going to stop making it just have a lapse before improved models come out

there is no such thing as a 2010-2011 TRX450r...

Technically you are right, They have 2011 they are just rebranded 09's

2011 HONDA TRX450R | News |

But this is a true 2011 250x which is a sport quad

2011 Honda TRX250X Sport Quad | ATV Sport

There is also a rumor that there will be a limited run of true 2011 models, wait and see what joe byrd rides this year as he has gained factory support from honda on the TRX450

http://powersports.honda.com/racing/atv/atv_2011_honda_team.aspx

This is from a Honda employee: Honda decided to hold off on the release until the current model is sold out. It will technically be a 2012 but there will be small release in fall 2011. The economy also dictated this because they felt that they would be better served selling the current model out as opposed to starting the new one and cutting prices even more on the old one. Again, the quad is already done, now they simply have time to work further on durability. It's been tested in the Baja deserts, eastern woods and various private tracks. Joe Byrd has been allowed to say he will ride a 2011trx but he's contractually obligated not to say anything about it until release. No test rider for that matter can.

I am not taking this as fact just speculation but it fits with everything I've read and heard.

This is normal type of stuff for downturn of economy, Every company had 09 leftovers. Now, there are shortage of parts. I will bet hands down that the speculation of early release of 2012 trx450 is pre-mature and the only one you'll see is Joe Byrd's but I'll bet that you see a shiny new Aluminium Frame. And yes my first post was a little misleading now that I reread it but am more thorough here

Mothatruckin crocksuckin EPA go chuck something you bunch of wussies.

Wussies? Trying to help keep the air clean for everyone and those who are most affected don't even appreciate it...
I'm sure the EPA loves my LT500R :)

Actually it was litigation lawyers who loved the LT500R

but for real f**ck the EPA, i dont see the point in putting emissions regulations on ORVs

Uncatalyzed gasoline emissions are going the way of the do-do bird (just go ahead and get used it and believe me, everyone is better off for it) and "the zuke" was trying to get around the regulations and got caught at it. The guys who do manufacturer enforcement aren't stupid and designing an engine which is severly hampered from the factory to get in under regulations and then working with an aftermarket company to modify it is a no-no

Yeah I know non-cat exhaust is going to be eventually eliminated all together.

Litigation lawyers? bunch of idiots ride em and wreck then try to sue Suzuki even though it was marketed as a racing quad for skilled riders?

Marketed from the factory that way......not modded.

I support the EPA on most issues. I've made a few trips to Phoenix and LA on a humid summer day and if you have ever been there, you would be supporting the EPA as well.
