Introduction first, before I pump you all for information. My name is Rob, I am located in NC close to Ft. Bragg/Fayetteville. I am active duty Army, I like shooting fire arms, riding my KLR650, skydiving, and I am building my first Quad, which is a blaster and will become my newest obsession. I have searched the forum, and the internet but have not found the info I am looking for. I was wondering if a sleeve for the wr200 could be used in a blaster. Now here is what I have found out so far, using said forum and internet. The dt200/wr200/blaster share a lot of parts. the crank and piston being a couple of them. the wr200 is a plated water cooled jug, but I have found a replacement sleeve for the wr200. The wr200 has the most aggressive port layout of the three motors. I even found a forum/site that had people using the different sleeves on some twins I think it was early RDs. So if I need a new sleeve, and I want a more aggressive port layout, could the wr200 sleeve be made to fit a blaster jug then ported/polished to make a real screamer? And avoid spending like one million dollars on a la sleeve bbk. I have already contacted Ken OConnor about doing the standard machine work for me, and would welcome thoughts from all machinists/motor builders on this. If this has already been discussed, please provide me a link, and you can call me stupid for not finding it on my own. I have thick skin, it won't hurt my feelings. Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great info on this forum.

i would think if this was a viable option, someone..builders or at least the drag crowd, would have discovered it already. ken would definately have that answer for you.
the stock blaster cylinder can be made to scream with the proper porting and supporting mods for it's intended use..drag/dune/trail ect.

Just a thought, looks like the tried and true mods are the way to go then. But if one of the builders out there thinks it will work, and would like to give it a try I am game.

Sounds like a fun experiment. Might be relatively high, time-wise, in research to figure out what sleeve would work the best.

Welcome to Blasterforum! I don't have much imput on the WR 200 sleeve option, but Im here to tell you that a properly-built Blaster top end will really surprise you, even without a stroker crankshaft. The porting can be updated quite a bit from stock, and the cylinder head has a TON of room for improvement as well.

You could also have a 240 sleeve installed in your stock jug for a little extra displacement. Sounds like you've done the right thing by talking to Ken. I have a KOR-built top end on my Blaster, and it doesn't disappoint. A couple of my friends who've ridden my Blaster come back from a test ride grinning ear-to-ear. :D

BTW, thanks for your service! My dad served in the Army in Vietnam, and I am thankful for all the military does for this wonderful country!

I do have 2 motors, one rock solid stock bottom end out of an 04, and one in need of tlc, running, complete motor out of an 88.......looks like I will just have to build them both. Now I just gotta embezzle more money from the ball and chain......I mean love of my life. And get this thing ready for spring!

Welcome to the site. You have chosen a great place to find all the info you want to make a motor run like you want. I spent many weekends in your area partying as well as working at Pope AFB while i was in the military.

No need to try and use a dt or any other jugg on your motor. The stock blaster jugg will put out crazy power that i am sure you will be happy with. Make sure you take advantage of our for sale section here and scoop up some good deals. I have 2 built fully suspended blasters and have less money in the two of them than you would think possible.

Great info slick!

The DT 200 shows 31 hp.
I know that a ported stock jug blaster and re-chambered head will easily surpass that. I know my porting does. Plus you have the advantage of less weight (air cooled),and less parts,...water pump, hoses, radiator, etc.
The air cooled set up uses the K.I.S.S method!
"Keep It Simple Stupid" train of thought. (not calling you stupid).

The DT 200 also has taller primary gearing.
In my opinion, the blaster's close ratio gear set has PERFECT RATIOS! That coupled with the blasters lower geared primary gearing keeps it from falling on its face when going from gear to gear. Thats important regardless how much power your engine makes.

I say the hell with re-sleeving with a WR 200 sleeve, and vote for a ported stock jug and,re-chambered head, stock stroke crank. This will be easier on your wallet, and will still give you what your looking for.

Either way you go,your going to have fun. Thanks for serving!
P.S. >>>Whats it like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane?

Jumping military static line is kinda crazy, jumping freefall is amazing! and I am more scared of landing in an aircraft than jumping out of one. Needless to say I've had some rough landings on some unimproved strips in some suspect places.
