Melt it with new pipe? If you're in W. NY you're getting the rain I got last night. Try what I suggested with the choke, maybe even pull all way out. Don't ride it any more than neede till you get jetting sorted. If you have a new or cleaner plug throw it in for next test.
 
I will take it for a spin later, because I don't feel like getting rained on lol:p. The plugs come out black and a little wet, because I did a little carb tuning last night and I just wanted to be safe. I have my airbox lid on, only because when I bought it, it had no airbox lid and I thought nothing of it. So I rode it hard for about an hour-hour and a half and melted the cast piston that was in it. So, I keep the airbox lid on now.

Thats because you need to rejet for removing the lid. If you can rejet for no lid and your FMF you should notice a big difference.
 
Anyway, what jet size should I be using(for FMF and no lid)? 280? What size pilot jet? And will these jet changes help the problem?

No, no not with new pipe. I did this about a month ago with my other motor. It was bored .010 over with a cast piston. Everything else was stock.
 
Any GOOD shop should have Mikuni hex jets, Yammy dealer, or maybe other brand dealer, tho if the parts guy is retarded he won't know what to look for. As to ordering i suggest Carb Parts Warehouse. Have you checked with FMF as to what they suggest with jetting? Have heard good things about CPW, they might even have suggestions.

wow i didnt read all that..but on a side, did you put the small brass washer in thet goes under the main jet? seems a lot of guys are leaving thiss off lately!

Hmmm...Now you've got me thinking Blaner. I'm not sure if there was a brass washer underneath it or not. I know I didn't have one in my hand or put one back on...maybe when I go to get jets today I will see if they've got some in stock. Just ask for part no.10 on my mikuni carb?
