I just picked up a 04 Blaster and the guy said it needed a new head.

Well just for sh*ts I went ahead and tested the compression.
I kicked it 4-5 times and barely got 60 psi, i then put the plug back in and kicked it over, it started but heard a tapping in the motor, an then saw white smoke pouring out the exhaust.
I put it in gear and had barely any power and still heard the tapping pretty good.
It stalled out on me and seemed like it didnt want to start again.

And tested spark an seemed pretty good.

Is this a combination of needing piston n rings AND has leaky crank seals? (I read somewhere that the loss of power and white smoke is seals in the bottom end - tranny fluid mixing?

Help me out guys as I did search but couldnt find my combination of symptoms.

Thanks!

Did you hold the throttle wide open while doing the compression test?
then kick it till the needle stops.

A leakdown test will pinpoint any airleaks including the crank seals.
There's a DIY on building and using a leaktesters in the DIY section.

or pm me if buying one is easier.

No I did not touch the throttle.

Should I? Would it make that much of a difference?

120- 160 is great! 120 is a bit low for me but its rideable

Ok will check again tomorrow but since i'm barely getting 60 psi now could I expect to get 120+ with throttle wide open?

If not im back to square one to what my symptoms are currently.

120-130ish is common for a fresh stock engine.
anything near/below 100 needs attention asap

Compression didnt change still about 60 psi, so with my symptoms (white smoke, loss of power, tapping in the motor. ?
