There is a guy in town that has a blaster for sale. I went over to look at it and it was seized, i talk him into letting me pull the head so i new if it was upper or lower problem's. The cylinder was stuck on the piston, not bad but i had to use my palm's to give her a good wammy and free the cylinder. After that i looked at the piston. The rings were stuck into the piston, and the rear skirt was shattered, the confusing part......the bike only had maybe 4 days worth of riding on a fresh rebuild. The guy that had it got it on trade so he didn't know anything about it.
30 over
stock carb (guy was told it was jetted a step up from stock)
some sorta bowl looking filter
no air box top
head looks to have been shaved (there is no ridge-the mounting flange ? is leval with the bottem of the head)
and a Cobra brand muffler.

if the piston shirt shattered, the pieces are in the bottom end and it's probably shot. It was more than likely due to incorrect jetting

Yea,the remnants of the skirt in the case was/is a big worry for me if i decide to buy it. We found as far as we can tell all the peaces laying on top of the crank. the rest were little chunks that poured out of the head pipe.we puzzled it back together and made it all fit as best you can after what they been thru.

I just got an e-mail from the guy,and he told me that he took the stuff to a race shop and the piston was a 50 over.,and the cylinder was a 40 over.....will that even fit ? Could that have been the reason for locking up like that ? Not enuff "room" for the rings to "cycle" and that kept the oil from circulating around them, thus locking them in ?

Since the piston shattered you will need to split the case to make sure it did not crack it anywhere, i would look at the bottom of the motor to see if there is any holes. but it still could have cracked inside between the crank and the tranny. this happened to me it is not a bad fix.

how much is he wanting for it?

On the other hand, if the piston was 40 and the bore was 50, if could easily have slapped around and shattered the piston. The rings would have taken up the slop to let it at least run for a bit, but a piston can't take that much side play.

He is wanting $250 for it "firm" but to be honest at this point i think he is bs'ing me because he story about the bore vs. piston sounds like a stretch. I figure if i did get it i am looking at-at least a full gasket set new piston kit, jug, and a head because the chunks beat the sh*t outa it. They also somehow busted the reed cage, and then after spliting the case my luck there would be ashit-ton of damage.

haha ,i just sold my yz 250 the other day...i dont know the year for sure but it was liquid cooled, and was white with a red seat. I was having a hard time finding an intake boot for it and obviously it wouldn run without it...i had planned it for a blaster but then opped out.
