I have a 1997 yamaha blaster. Its been boarded out 50 over.i am going to keep the stock head pipe but i would like to change the silencer. What is the loudest silencer they make but will still give me good power???????

silencers seldom make noticible difference in power so why bother??
if you want to annoy the neighbors just hack your stock silencer if you want performance look to replace the pipe..

Making a bike louder is not good for our sport, riding areas are going away fast and loud pipes give people a negative image of all off road activities, so please keep this in mind.

^^^^ +1 rep given but yeah with power comes sound.... dont just make it loud theres no point! If you want POWER you have to replace the headpipe.... and besides, most of the baffles are in the headpipe so the silencer wont make much of a sound difference

the head pipe(expansion chamber) should not have baffles..but it does sound as if the stock head pipe is double walled

have you cut one up and found baffles in the pipe???

No, but it has been done before by someone here.... i did put a sunflower seed in mine to see if actually went through but it was stopped by a baffle after a few inches...... IF there were no baffles, am pipes wouldn't have the dramatic power effect that they do.....

^^^ reps given for killing the stock pipe to show us whats inside! thats one of the only silencers ive seen a sound difference from... that one, DG, and Paul turner

whoa yamaha knows better than that...jeez the whole idea of and expansion chamber is to manipulate the return pressure waves bounced off the "cone" section for the scavanging effect and engine tune, with those baffles in the way it can really screw it up thanks for that schooling I may split my pipe and remove that crap could you give me a better idea where these baffles are ... the pics are good but to close to tell the locations of stuff

Well, if you do you will have to rejet...if you really wanna get rid of it, its better just to buy a new pipe...but do it man! I wanna see what it sounds like!!!!!
