i just put on new sprockets, 14/38 and now my chain does not sit on my rear sprocket right. on the top of my rear sprocket the chain sits on top of the teeth and then meshes in, and i don't want to ruin the sprocket, maybe this is a stupid question but what should i do?

anybody have an answer for me, i'm totally stumpped. Its only binding on half of a turn and i can't figure out why, i put the back tires in the air and ran it to see if i could see whats wrong but nothing it just bucked and kicked like it wanted to come flying apart. I have some pics, you can't really see it well but ill post them anyway. Could it possibly be a tweaked axle, could that cause this??????

oh and the chain is a 520rk chain if that has anything to do with it

What kind of rear sprocket is it?
89custom had a similar problem with a sprocket from project blaster.
if thats the same chain you had on there before, and the front is fine then im thinking its gotta be your rear sprocket, its messed up or not for this machine?

It looks like your sprocket holder fingers are extending into the area where the chain rides the sprocket,it's common to have to grind some of the fingers off when you go to a 38 tooth sprocket.Hope this helps.

Is your chain clearing the heads of the sprocket mount? I know for the stock sprocket mount you have to grind down a little bit for the chain to clear when running a 38 tooth.

ill have to check tomorrow about those fingers it might be but it only does it on half the sprocket, the other half spins fine its weird, i wish you guys could be here to see it, its kinda hard for me to explain. but the chian only have about 2-3 hours on it so i doubt its worn out.

the problem was those fingers, they were pushing on the chain so i ground off the top of them and it works great now, i love the way that gearing feels

Glad to hear that was the problem and you got er fixed. 14/38 works out well for modded blasters.I mainly ride the desert and dry lake beds for miles on end and usually end up wishing for "another gear" once I'm topped out in 6th :] Stock sprocket setup was way to slow with 20" tires.

ya thats the problem i was running into, it just wen through the gears way to fast and i also have 20" tires. I took it to an 1/8 mile dragstrip and i had it topped out before i made it to the end of the track so this should help me pull all the way through
