what does jetting do for you???

i have a clamp on uni air filter and full dg exuast and i dont know how to jet or if it is jetted because of the mods done by the previous owner and if i did jett it what would you reccomend and how much would it cost and could i have pics of how to do it???

jetting lets you get the best possible air/fuel ratio for your engine. the best place to start is by cleaning and oiling the air filter, putting in a fresh plug and riding. check the color of the plug and compare it the ones in this link : NGK Spark Plugs USA

^^ that right there should give you a good idea of where you stand and what needs to be done (if something does need to be done). if you need more help post a picture of your plug and we can help you out with it from there.

well i cant post a pic and the link you added wont work so ill just tell you it was black wet and had black grime on it what does the mean ???? ask if i need to describe it better!

would it hurt the motor if i just ran it and could i buy reeds or some after market part so i didnt have to change the jetting

thats a sign of being jetted rich. yes, you theoretically could fix this by adding some aftermarket parts, but its not likely and not the best way to go about this. if you cant rejet on your own, pick up a shop manual, follow it as closely as you possibly can, and see if its helping you at all. or get a friend who knows his/her stuff and make them help you.

If the deposits are wet, it can be an indication of a breached head gasket, poor oil control from ring or valvetrain problems or an extremely rich condition - depending on the nature of the liquid present at the firing tip.

but mine was just rebuilt by a pro and its only been ran 3 weeks ago and hasnt been ran very hard so i think im runnin rich is the any after market thing i could add instead of rejeting it ??????????

takes what 5 bucks for like 3 or 4 jets and takes like what 3o mins to get it right come bro save your cash rather that by a aftermarket reed

ok i will i was just thinking it might save some time and here is the stuff done to my blaster and the air fiter clamps on to the side of the carb i dont use the box
have a clamp on uni air filter / full dg exuast 10 WEISCO PISTON KIT
after read that what do you think i should try jetting it at first? when i try a different jet should i clean or change the spark plug to see the difference?
is the main jet is inside the bowl of the carb?
do i have to take the carb completely off ???
is there a screw i could ajust first????

Re-jetting isnt very hard at all. All you do is take off your carb bowl, unscrew the old jet, install the new one and put it back together and try it. Takes no time at all

* if your plug is really wet and oily, do change it, if not i wouldn't. because you will get a clearer reading on a good used one. As for where to start, do you know what you are running now?

ok and do i clean or change the spark plug to see if it makes a difference??
and stock is 230 on a 1995 right?? and what size do you think should try first??

yea thanks i kinda figured that
ok and do i clean or change the spark plug to see if it makes a difference??
and what size main jet do you think should try first??

If your plug is really wet and oily, do change it, if its not to bad clean it up and run it. because you will get a clearer reading on a good used one. Hmmm with your mods i would guess 260-290 range, i cant say for sure tho, i dont know what your running now
