i adjusted the pilot to spec and i did plug chops and got waffle brown ive seafoamed the carb it has 280 main jet but it still wont idle it seems when i turn the idle screw on top the carb it really doesnt do anything witch way is the right way i should be turning it im still stumped with my idling issue.

hmm seems like it doesnt do anything maybe im turning it to fast do i need to do it slowly and let it have alittle time before turning it again

but like you stated earlier...if your turning it and nuthing is happening then it's not your screw...it could be anything from your float adjustment,to a jet thats clogged...

Tightening the cable is not the right way to get it to idle. If you do this then whenever you turn the bars and the cable binds up then the idle will go up.

main-280
pilot-32.5
i dont know about clip and should there be a spring on my air screw cause i dont see one when it is all the way out?

with my mods im currently running a 240 jet and it runs perfect, dead on with the chops. if i were you id toss your stock jet back in with the air screw turned 1.5 out and see how she runs.

well there isnt a spring on my pilot/air jet and it came with the 280 but im pretty sure that ima take it to the local shop and have them put a 250 or 260 in it

Seriously, all this talk about mains jets is interesting, but the main shouldn't be the issue. It doesn't come into play until after idle and neither should the needle. BTW waffle brown sounds good. I think I'd keep the main you have. (I'm surprised Noober has such a small one, hmmm that doesn't sound nice does it?)

Odd though that it dies when you pull out the choke. If your pilot were plugged or just too small, that should make it run.

Have you looked at electrical BS, like the TORS? I have an '04, so it's just a little different, but when I was first messing around with putting in a new carb, I couldn't get it to idle at all. Then I realized I still had the throttle switch wires connected, fixed that and voila! the sumbitch idled fine. Yours might be different cuz it's older, but it might still be a TORS issue. (I believe the diff is that newer ones have to have the throttle switch wires jumpered as well, not just disconnected.)
