What kind of markings should be on the rod? Mine says 2XJ. It does have to blue stuffer blocks in there. Is it possible to be anything else besides a +3 stroker? Also, would the vito's 240 big bore be stamped with 195cm3? I'm having a suspicion that the guy I bought this off of lied to me a lot, and it's not actually a vito's 240 cylinder. It's just the LA sleeve. The cylinder is not painted black as if it were stock though. I could post pictures if necessary.

Vito's also sells a stock stroke replacement crank with the stuffer blocks. One easy way to figure out if you have a +3 stroker is to look for a spacer plate between the case and bottom of the cylinder. A 3mm stroked engine has to have a 1.5mm spacer plate between the case and cylinder to keep the piston from going up to far and hitting the head at TDC.

It should like this:

Look carefully between the case and cylinder there is a blue gasket then a black spacer plate and then a green gasket. If you have one, you have a stroker.

The other option, if you have a v-block jig is to simply lay the crank into it and measure the stroke. Stock stroke is 57mm from BDC to TDC. Obviously, 3mm stroker is 60mm.

I have a BBK cylinder in the shelf that is a factory aluminum casting (stamped 2JX 195cm3) and was told it was a vito's kit. I actually contacted Vito's about it and they said that their old big bore kit used a sleeve (not a complete replacement cylinder like they do now) and only had one exhaust port. They also informed me that there were no identifying number on their stuff to make SURE that it was from Vito's but that it was compatible with pretty much any BB blaster kit on the market. The exception (as far as I can tell) is the Wossner pistons used by CT racing in their "sonic" kits. They appear more like CR250 pistons with a single hole in the middle of the intake side skirt with a corresponding "upside down" T shaped intake hole in the cylinder. It doesn't look to me like that's compatible with the "double window" of the blasters.

I'm running a +3 stroker crank on a vito's big bore. You don't have to run a spacer plate if the builder cuts the head for you. My big bore kit also says 195cm on the side of it and it has the triple exhaust ports.
The only positive way to find out what you have is to measure your stuff.

I do have the spacer plate. Suppose it's the stock replacement crank and the guy I bought it from just threw the spacer plate in there so he could claim it's a stroker.

OK, The reason I'm asking these questions is because I took the engine apart yesterday to see what was up because it runs like sh*t. I got beat by a stock blaster and a CRF150. What I found was beat up cylinder walls ,a stuck piston ring, a crazy amount of carbon almost clogging the exhaust ports, tons of carbon on the bottom side of the piston, etc. The quad never ran right from the start, and I just can't figure out why. So anyway, I'm asking about the stroker because I'd like to send my cylinder out to be ported a. for more power and b. to clean up the mess. I need to know what exactly is in there so I can have the builder do it right. Also, I know the guy I bought the quad off isn't Mr. Honest, so I'm just trying to make sure.

thats highly unlikely, those spacer plates come with the vitos crank, for him to do that he would of had to find someone that didnt use thiers and go through the trouble of putting it in not to mention that would mess the port timing up real bad. between having the stuffer blocks and the spacer plate i bet you do have a stroker crank. if you have your engine apart just look at the piston... a bbk is a 72mm piston so if teh numbers on top are anything less you dont have the bbk

I know its a big bore. Just not sure if it's vito's or sleeved

you said it has the triple exhaust port right? thats one thing to look for as well as boost ports in the intake, little worm holes next to the intake windows in the lower outer corners. if it has the extra intake and exhaust ports its a vitos. and yah if theres a plate there its most likely a +3 stroker. you could asways measure the stroke if really think the guy is trying to fool you. rotate the piston to bdc(bottum dead center) then measure from the top of the deck to top of the piston. 57mm is a stock stroke and 60mm is the +3 stroke.
