okay so i went to but the la sleeve kit and of course i have to wait 4 weeks to get it so i broke down and bought the vito kit and was wondering am i going to see any differnence in power when i go to the drag next week?

Yes and no I've done some research on here and from what I gathered there are casting marks or errors with many of the big bore and piston kits from vitos because of their cast pistons. And cast of corse means molten metals mostly steel is poured into a mold and is taken out and refined where defects in the mold can cause the cylinder to wear excesivly if gone unnoticed. Therefore no where near as strong as forging. Forging squeses the impurities out of that similar mixure of metals and produces a much stronger structre and last much longer. I personaly like my motors on stock bore as possable so I know what I'm dealing with for the most part. Sorry for preaching but no it will sadly last little longer than that of a stock piston's life span. The only thing from vito's that i would ever buy is their +3mm stroker is about the only thing that's worth my money good luck.

^^^^ That gave me a bit of a headache to read...

The "stock" vito's BBK does have a bunch of casting flaws and while Vito's says it's an "aggressive trail port" out of the box, a heavily ported stock cylinder will outrun a "stock" big bore kit.

Vito's does provide a cast piston out of the box. A cast piston will work well (and last as long as a factory cast piston) but I didn't use one in my big bore kit because I don't like what they do when they come apart (they disintegrate into little aluminum balls all inside the engine).

What pipe and carburetor do you have on your quad?

hmmmmm stock carb and FMF pipe. You CAN run those on a big bore kit but they're not going to allow you to put out the maximum amount of power possible out of a big bore.

You'll need to upgrade the carburetor absolutely and depending on what sort of riding you're talking about doing (MX or drag) you may need to a different pipe on it as well.

well...... it's hard to put a number on it like that. If you use all of the CT racing's recommendations, they claim the "LA sleeve" cylinder kit puts out 40.7HP.

If you setup a vito's engine (vito's and LA sleeve have a different porting layout, the vito's is an older design that doesn't have quite the same peak HP) with the same parts and porting specs that the LA sleeve cylinder has, it will put out a few less horsepower. The trick is, the CT/LA sleeve cylinder is designed for MX or drag applications. Vito's themselves advertises their cylinder as having "trail porting".

Much of the power output from the engine has less to do with port layout as it does your overall setup and what concessions you're willing to make in order to have the power output you're looking at. Anything more than about 30HP out of a blaster is going to need a whole host of upgrade OTHER than the engine... You'll need a better clutch, longer swingarm, better tires to put that power to the ground and a whole bunch more experience to ride. Maximum horsepower comes at a sacrifice of ridability too. You get to the point the engine puts out HUGE HP numbers but it's power is like a lightswitch, off off off off BAM ON ON ON!

Sorry if i confused anyone but I like to do indepth with things if I got nothing going on. I personaly wont use a vito's cylinder untill they update it and get rid of the flaws and i like to keep as stock bore as possable with porting and such

Well a "stock" vito's has casting flaws about as bad a stock yamaha cylinder. It doesn't look like a mountain range down in there or anything, just not as clean as something that's been handled by a person and cleaned up after casting.

If a vito's kit is worked over, the end product can be NEARLY as powerful as the LA sleeve kit.

yeah like my +3 KOR ported vitos 240, if u want power out of that cylinder send it to kor, he will redo ur head and port that sh*t correctly, i had nothing but problems when i first got my 240 vitos and i will be installing the +3 240 on the bike tomorrow and breaking it in and i will let u know how she runs...

It doesn't take a professional builder to take out the casting flaws that Vito's leaves. You don't even need anything complicated to take them out, sand paper would get most of the casting flaws they leave (even though it would take a while to do).

yea eather you gotta spend 720 in a motor which is a little high for me right off the bat or go through the trouble of doing it your self still spending a good chunk of time and money perfecting it is your 2 realistic options if you dont want to worry about reliability issues
