V force 3 question

I cant use my V force 3 reeds, part of the cage hits my intake boot. The reed cage bolts up to the engine fine, it's where the intake bolts to it that I have problems. A small part of the cage protrudes into the intake boot. My problem is it hits the boot and will not allow the boot to bolt up right. Do you have to change intake boots for a v force 3 setup or do I have the wrong reeds? All this stuff came with the blaster when I bought it. Your input would help. Thanks

Nope everybody that has VF3's has the same problem. you need to cut this little lip off of the intake boot that is hitting the cage.

True for a stock boot.^^^

Rather than mod the vf3, I trimmed the inside of my aftermarket intake boot to allow the plastic of the reed cage to fit properly. This probably would not be necessary if an intake spacer was used.

i had to cut the "nozzle" off of the vf3 cage to fit into my "pro design intake"
works great.
i bought mine brand new, they came with bolts and nuts, a temp spacer to put between the cage and intake boot, it shows bolting it up with the spacer(washers)then using a hacksaw blade in between the gap, to cut that lip off, like shown above

so VF3's actually come with directions that tell you to take a hack saw to your new $150 set of reeds? lol I:I I:I i know, i know, they work awesome once thats done i just find it funny :D

nice try noobs, but your gonna force me to defend the vf3's

no, they come with directions to cut that lip off the stock intake, i made my own directions for cutting off the "vf3 nozzle" so they would fit the "wrong" pro design intake i already had

did your rad valve come with directions for porting it, so it would become more than an overpriced paperweight ???

i'm gonna estimate the vf3's have at least 3 times the open port/pedal area of that dinosaur, you can port that all you want on the motor side, it still only has 4 small pedal ports versus the 8 large pedals/ports on the vf3's
more spit = more git
someday you'll step up to a modern design, race and dyno proven intake/reed system

wow dude are we a touch grumpy today :)? where did i bash on the VF3's? you said there were instructions to use a hacksaw to cut something off and i said i find that funny, not that they are sh*tty, or overpriced or anything like that. i also said i know they work awesome once thats done. i dont know why you are hateing on my RAD valve setup it works awesome, i think the vids speak for themselves :)

very sorry bro, i apologize and was grumpy earlier, glad your my bro and allowed me to vent needlessly without tellin me i was a total dick, i'm here for you next time you need an ass to kick !!!!!

its all good in da hood man :D :D scoobie doobie dooooooooooooooooo I:I I:I

yeah, my bad this morning, but im gonna send noobs my vf3's and intake to borrow, while i do my winter teardown, so he can do a head to head comparison

noobs rad valve is all in one reedcage and a built in intake, so he'll need it too

i wasn't sure if he still had the one he was running, i suppose i could send him one too so he can mod it for a 34mm just in case i port it up and could use a 34mm after the winter lol.

just let me know if you aren't able to get them to him awk, i won't be needing mine for a while. the opportunities to even work on mine are getting fewer and farther between

thats a pretty cool offer guys but honestly i really dont want to mess with a good thing just for experimentation. i would have to rejet for the VF3's and when i moved my plastics back i had to make my intake and it is set to the exact length and angle for my RAD valve. i would love to see a side by side comparison of a ported RAD valve and VF3's i just dont want to be the one to do it hahaha :D :D. but just for the record i have the RAD valve that you use a intake on not the all inclusive one, i use a 34mm vitos intake but i had a hogged out stock one on for a while and that worked pretty good.

well, i didnt know that, i had an all inclusive rad valve, mr305 gave to me, cause nobody would buy it, i took one look at it, and couldnt figure out how ireed ports the size of Quaters, way smaller than even stock, was gonna help the motor breathe more, which is the reason for porting/ A/M intakes/ reeds/ pipes/ airboxes ect. ect......
threw new reeds on it and passed it along,
i just dont understand how choking the flow at one point is gonna help anything
yours may be different than what i saw ?????

nah that sounds like what i started with too, it was cool because i ran it stock for a while and i noticed a big gain in low end but it was undoubtedly lacking on top end which is why i wanted to open 'er up some lol :D. if you get on boyesens website they claim the idea of the rad valves small hole is to build velosity kinda like stuffer blocks.

i kinda suck and never took before pics or actual finished pics :-[ :-[ but here it is about 3/4 of the way done. in the end i had both side nice and symetrical and glassy smooth. i think there are advantages to both, you dont see VF3's on all kinds of high perf quads for no reason but i dunno, im just in love with the old school RAD valve :D

The V3 made my throttle response way better in my CT240 over the stock 250r reed cage, but if i was thinking of trying a diffrent reed cage i would try the Mossbarger powergroove reed valve.
