Two rebuilds...underway

I've had these things apart so many freaking times that it sickens me to have to do it, but yes. I am going to split the cases, again. I'm gonna build a work bench next weekend so I'm not working off of the little table I've been using and can sit comfortably. After that, gonna tear her apart again.

I think while I'm at it I'm going to go through and rip everything off of her and clean everything up. I'm in no rush to get it running again.

Thinking about powder coating everything, but we will see.

Went for a few hours on my girls quad today, everything's running perfectly.

I'm ordering a work bench from harbor freight and then starting my motor again.

Sick of bending over to work on the motor, so I'm not touching it until I get this work bench together. Buuut, I'll have her up and running again soon.

Two trestles and an old door make a wonderful workbench!

I got some new wheel bearings. Haven't taken mine off yet to know anything about how they set on the front, but just out of curiosity... Is it acceptable to add more grease or should I leave it the way they come? Kinda pointless to add new wheel bearings to a blaster that's not even running, but what the heck... Lol

Id pop the seals of an repack them with some Lucas red an tacky grease, it super heavy duty grease, an is very water resistant, its what we use on the big trucks an heavy equipment, an that sh*t gets serious abuse

Some say do it, some say don't. I Pick the seal and pack them. It's worked well for me.

Not getting into the extra grease scenario other to say there is ample grease added to bearings in the factory.

PM me if you need to know why extra grease is not required.

So, I've been thinking for about a year now. Been considering selling my blaster and buying a YZ 250. I think I'm gonna go that route. I'm gonna get my blaster running, and try to get $800-1000 out of it. I don't think I'll have trouble getting a grand.

I'll still have my girls blaster if I feel like getting back on four wheels! Lol

Well, got the piston ordered today it'll be here tomorrow. Gonna give the cylinder and piston to a Yamaha dealer that's local to me here on Saturday. After that, we will see if I decide to keep her, or trade for a YZ!

Dropped the cylinder off at a local machine shop that's known for doing good quality work. Going on vacation Sunday and I'll grab it when I get back Friday!

So I took the motor off today and cleaned it up, gonna rip it apart here soon to make sure everything is out of there. The rollers at the bottom of therod They were a bit noisy, and as soon as I threw some 2 stroke oil on them they were fine and made no noise. Is this something to be concerned about or will the two stroke oil in the gas lube that up properly?

Unlubed bearings will be noisy.

The oil that comes out of suspension will be sufficient to lube the bearings.

Were the bearings taken out and flushed clean or did you just throw oil at them?
