well guys i might have found my first truck, not sure if i want it yet or not, the guy offered it to me as a trade for my quad, its a little bigger then what i was looking for but beggers cant be choosers, its a 76 ford 4x4 with a 390 in it, its got a 4 barrel edelbrock barb, flowmaster dual exhausts, it has a 9 inch suspension lift with 39.5 super swampersI:I

and yes, i AM a chevy guy, but i dont have anything to drive right now and beggers cant be choosers

if i get it, id probly put like 35 or like 37's on it

hope you got deep pockets for gas money, that thing might get 6 miles to the gallon, and if you trade him your quad for it, you wont have anything to haul, so why the need for a truck ???????????????
or is this just a "redneck" thing........ i gotta have a truck, the bigger the better, with a confederate flag on it somewhere and conutry music blastin outta cheap home stereo speakers as loud and distorted as they will go ??????????

cause i dont just ride, i hunt, i work, i go offroading, and i have a kfx400, a honda 350 and a honda 250r, and a couple honda 200x's

and btw i forgot its got a granny 4 speed too

That's a beast and a 390 is a beast of a engine ( I'm a chevy guy too ) it would be nice to have , but lose your quad? I dunno plus that 390 loves him some gas , he's a thirsty bastard .
It would be a good trade , but I'd hate to see you lose your quad , sh*t half the fun of having a truck is hauling your quad with it!

is it registered? aside from the huge gas sucking it will do it dont look bad at all. my main consern would be if its not registered is it just someones field truck that has had the nuts beaten off it?? you quad is sweet, i cant belive you only had one offer on it :o

I think it's a little too big but that's just me. With a little work it could be a nice looking truck, but if you're on a tight money budget, you won't be driving too much because of the gas.

yep its registered, passes inspection every time

I would test drive it first.if it still has the stock gears with big tires like that,it may feel very weak power wise.Check the floor boards and cab corners for bad rust.Make sure the steering is not loose and sloppy feeling. If you can take someone that's knows a good bit about auto repair,I would have them take a look at it.old 4x4 trucks like that can have alot of hidden problems .

I like it!!!! The 390 FE big blocks are good engines but they weigh more then the 460 & 429 big block family... If you put a 428 crank in the 390 you will have a awesome 410 FE big block... It dont look like a 9 inch suspension lift in the pic, I have a 6 inch suspension lift with about a 1" body lift and 38 1/2 Thornbirds on my bronco and it sits about the same a truck with a 6"lift with 38 & 39...Im looking at getting some Super Swampers M16 37" they look good, have you seen them???

No way would I own your truck! It's to nice for my liking.lol.Primer for me.There's mostly woods trails to run around here.Tree branches would be killing that paint job real fast.

bronco, do you ever getting any shaking at high speeds, i no its common with some old trucks but yours looks pretty solid

I only make a trade if i see a potential upside in the future... if your planning on keeping that truck forever... are prepared to pay the gas... and you see more use for the truck then the quad.. i guess its a good trade..... problem for me is... i think the quad is easier to get rid of in the long run then the truck.... i think it has a higher resale market then the truck... and i also think it may well hold value better then a truck... personally if i was to trade my quad... id have to get a car or truck that i knew i could easily resell in the future should i change my mind... but thats just how i run things..

i see what your saying but IMHO every thing you said i think is backwards, a truck is easier to sell, truck would hold more value, a truck would have more use imo, and so on

id hold off on jumping on the trade.. always happens you take the first decent offer than later that day a better offer pops up.. i wheel and deal alot.. trust me id hold off.. that truck will get all ov 3-6 mpg on a good day.. easy spend 100-160 a week on gas depending on how much you use it, idk about you but i could find a better way to kill 400-550 bucks a month than on gas
