i have a toyota 4AGE that ive put into a nissan1400 LDV, they are only found here in SA. now ive just installed a Dicktator EFI system and had it set up to run a bot leaner at light throttle to be more economical for town driving, now there is a stainless steel pipe that comes out of the water pump onto which a rubber radiator hose connects, the steel pipe is very smooth and the rubber hose keeps popping off even with two clamps! are there any tips to get the rubber to bite? like the trick for hairspray with bike grips, but i dont think that will work with the heat. any ideas?

Don't quote me on this but i had a problem with a hose which wouldn't stick on a hot air blower for heating one of our green houses. I took some griptape (tennis or squase) and put a layer on before i pushed the hose over and clamped it tight, never came off again, but water i don't know

if it was off the truck i would say run a weld bead around the edge and then it could be clamped over that but in your case the tape trick like stephen said might work or maybe just roughing up the smooth steel with some 80 grit paper might do the trick along with the 2 clamps.

i think sanding is the best bet. im scared the heat will melt the glue from the tape and it will slip off again. il have to unbolt it from the water pump first to sand. it only seems to be a problem at high revs about 8500 so i guess i cant blame the poor thing!
Thanks guys!

oh ya forgot i have pics on facebook! well done quite abit since then, some nice Estas cams and the dicktator along with other little goodies, changed the gearbox about 10 tens, trying different ones finally found one that doesnt whine! down here they are called Bastosto's you know the african way ;)

just use carb cleaner to clean both the hose and the pipe its sliding onto, i bet theres grease or something.
it might be hard to get on but atleast it wont come off.
if that dont work , try it in combination with the sandpaper

HAhhaa only in south africa.. flip, didnt luis lima run a 4age in his blue bakkie? i think he did..goodluck with ther project its sure to be awesome
