toomey pipe question

i have a toomey header that i bought used but he didnt have the toomey silencer so i am running a stock silencer with the toomey header. do yall think i should gut the stock silencer and if so should i gut it and put the cap with the tip back on? i dont wanna gut it and then it runs like crap then i wont ride till i save up to get the toomey silencer. any one done this before with a toomey and stock silencer?

silencer doesnt really matter, if you want the original toomey sound though you gotta get the silencer

I modded my stock silencer to get a little better flow, changed the sound some also. I took a drill and the biggest drill bit i could find and drilled a hole in the front of the silencer on the inside. There is a piece in there to push the exhaust out and create a vortex, that is the piece i drilled the hole in. I also made a different tip for the silencer, but it would be about the same just taking the complete end cap off. Hope this helps.

i took a metal chiesel and knocked that spiral thing out you said that you drilled through and i cut the piece off the inside of the cap then put the cap back on. it helped a little with the bottom end power. will try with the cap completly off latter.

theres another solid plate in the middle that i started to hit on but if it came loose i wouldnt be able to get it out without completly cutting up the silencer so i just left it in there.

the b1 is one of the best pipes i think they have shown provent # on the dino at my friends shop like the sound too i would match it up when u got the money. just gut the stock silencer if u still have it until u got the $$ to get one and see how u like it you may not have to even waist your money if u dont have too.good luck
