Tools needed for spliting cases and replacing bearings

I am discouraged at how much all the tools are to do the job. Seems like couple hundred bucks at rockymountainatvmc.com in pullers and clutch holders etc. Anybody have any shortcuts or cheaper ideas. I really dont have 200 bucks to spend on tools. thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, I just came in for lunch and am going to continue trying when I go back to the shed, if I get it apart, I'll let you know how, with pics.

awesome. i got my motor out and on the workbench just tryin to figure out what next.

I'm having trouble getting this part out, (Have no clue what it is, the gold'y colour part) I think once I have it out, it will be fairly easy to 'crack the case'

i bought all my own parts, tore it down as far as i could go without the specialty tools, try'd like hell to get it apart, got frustrated and called the dealer, they split my cases installed my new crank,bearings,seals, piston and newly bored jug for $110,
better than spending over $150+ on tools i hope i dont need for a long while

Well i took mine to dealer and they told me 700$

First make sure all the screws are out.Make sure you remove flywheel and clutch basket .Then take the block of wood and put it on the motor number sign and tap the wood with hammer Then tap up front where the piston is ,just keep going back and forth slowly

I've just rung my local dealer and booked it in to be done, rather reasonable rates, $230NZD for piston kit and $250NZD for labour, I think that's about $275-$300USD for you guys in the states.
