Blaster was running great Sunday, Monday I had to kick it 7-8 times before it would even try which I thought was strange did not seem low on power just hard to start, now will not start at all. Compression measured
about 105-110 and held until released. It was bored 20 over just before I got it, can I just clean the jug up and put new rings in or will it need more than that? I am fairly new to this other than replacing clutch.
Any thoughts,
Doug

When it was running felt around some Monday but did not really check that well, will take a look at it tomorrow and see, replaced gaskets on the cylinder when I got it last summer and put in the clutch.

head bolts and cylinder bolts loosen sometimes. last summer a year ago? could be time for a rebuild if you ride a lot. pull the head and take a look. you can heat the head gasket up and reuse it.

make sure the jug and head are tight first before you tear it apart, after you will need to look at the piston and jug walls for damage. if OK have the piston piston and jug measured to see for clearance required.

105-110 is low but not terminal. Before worrying about tearing it down, you will need to start checking the other basics.

Fuel, spark, reeds.

What does the plug look like? Check this first.

The progressive nature of it's demise makes me think carb/fuel. I think I would tear down the carb and pay attention to what is in the float bowl (try to take it off without spilling bowl contents). You might find crap or water in it. Spray out all passages and jets with carb cleaner, making sure it comes out somewhere else.

Thanks for the suggestions, bolts are tight, It has plenty of spark, carb had some crud in it but not very much, cleaned it out good, drained tank and filled with fresh mixed gas, still does not even try, will pull reeds out tomorrow and look at them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I finally got time to work on it cleaned the carb, replaced reeds, one of them was hanging open, checked wiring with ohm meter, ignition coil was shorted internally replaced coil fired on first kick, will tear it down this winter and do the rings but going to run it some this fall.

Glad to hear you are back on the road. And I agree, if it runs and you are happy with it, then just have fun for now. Do plan on doing the top end at some point, though. Excessive piston to wall clearance will make it grenade in the long run just from piston slap. Do the measurements before just throwing in rings, it might need a bore no matter how well it runs.

i was about to say it needed rejet because it is running lean from the temp drop.
but you got it fixed.
also when you did the compression check, did you hold the throttle wide open?
and the needle will never go back down till you hit the release pin, just how they work.
