PA.
I have american star racing a arms. I bought a couple replacement ball joints. The ball joints were very tight, making it very hard to turn. At first i could just put WD40 on the ball joints and the steering would be good for a few hours, but now The steering tightens up very quickly. Has anybody else had this problem? any help would be great.

i'm assuming this is the heim joint version ?
i run the ASR's with the heim joints, they get squeaky on me from time to time, but have never gotten tight in the 3 years i've had them, i usually use a silicon based spray, as wd-40 has been known to eat plastic ?
is the silicon based center of those heims effected by the wd-40 ??

are they adjusted correctly/centered so their is no binding ?

i also know there is an allen headed bolt down thru at least the upper heim, is it possible thats too tight ??

maybe give ASR a call on moday/tuesday and see what they have to say ? and post their thoughts/reply in here if ya would ?

Hmm. ,i have yet to replace ball joints on any of my atvs fortunatly.. but i do them daily at work on cars... from the looks of things there basically the same, i can't seem to see how they would stick unless there is a defect.. is it the knuckle that's sticking ? (in the ball joint i mean) that seems odd to me.. Yet i have had bad ball joints (sticky n squeky)on cars that i have sprayed with wd40 and the ball joint falls apart.. i would spray in the rubber boot..i mean poke a little hole in it n spray n they would fall apart.. funny how it sounds but they would.. sounds like a defect to me, but im not sure. Like AWK said give them a call.. r u sure it's the ball joint? I'm not doubting you... its like a ball in a joint hence ball joint lol.. but unless there's serious stress or pressure on something i can't see them sticking like you said... Are these ball joints greasable?

American Star was no help. I ended up just getting new joints from summit. they fixed the problem. thanks everybody.
