Hi, I have an 03 blaster im tearing down to bare frame and rebuilding. i have it all stripped down except the engine removal and the a arms and steering stem, my issue is the getting the hub disconnected from the tie rod so that i have just the lower a arm and not everything connected to it. i took the bolts off and everything have greased them with pb and pounded on them pryed on them as ive read in other posts but i just cant seem to remove the tie rod from the hub, any help would be appreciated :)

apply upwards pressure to the rod itself, then smack the outer area of the hub where the tapered rod end goes into it.

Slacken the nut off one complete turn and a few sharp blows on the end of the pitman arm will see the taper let go.

It is good to have the hub against something solid to stop it moving away when you hit.

The reason for leaving the nut on is to protect the threads.

If you do miss and hit the nut, make sure the nut still spins freely, if it is tight rotate it with a wrench until it becomes at least finger tight.

If it is tight you will have great trouble getting it off when the taper breaks.
