thumb or twist?

Idk im not a dirtbike guy and always have trouble with the twist but think it would be fun but could see the problems with it going up hills, I am a horrible hill climber as it is. If you thumb gets tired they do have extenders to give you more leverage. I would really like one my thumb cramps up really bad and sometimes i cant give it gas when it needs it becuase my hand turns numb and i have to stop for a second.

One thing I wanted to add that hasnt been mentioned is: With a quad, you have a lot more feedback coming from the ground to your controls. With a bike your tires are following a single path, where as a quad has 2 paths. So instead of having(in a perfect world) just an up/down feedback when hitting obstacles as you would with a bike, you're more prone to get a "side to side" feedback which often gets fed right back into the throttle. When I started transitioning to quads from bikes I figured going to a twist would be my best option, boy was I wrong. IMHO, If you're wearing out your thumb look into other options than the twist throttle.

I had a twist throttle on my Blaster when I bought it... love it!! I mainly just trail ride or go to the dunes once in a great while. You do get feedback in the throttle, mainly when riding rough terrain, just like Blackstar said... but you learn to deal with it. To each his own tho. Doesn't hurt to try it...... unless you wreck.

dont waste money on a throttle extender, go find a 12 gauge shotgun shell and slide it over your thumb throttle, been doin it for years, works like a charm on those long trail rides

Great use for a shotgun shell!.

My boy and I use a twister for MX and we both reckon they are the ducks guts, but they do take a little practice getting used to them.

There are a few tricks one can use with your fingers to make them safe, but it does take a few hairy moments to learn them.

When learned the twister allows absolute throttle control without that aching thumb!
