So I've read up about milling the head. I've heard about it before in conjunction with other serious mods (porting, reworking heads, etc.). I don't plan on doing any porting or anything anytime soon, but a little more punch is always good!
I see that you can buy a thinner head gasket that would bump your compression slightly. I'm sure with everything else stock I could run this on the 93 octane that I currently run just fine. My question is, would I notice a difference in power? And if so, how so....meaning, where in the power band? All around? Would it give a fraction of a hp increase across the board, or help the low end or the top end, or the mid range?? Would it hurt on an otherwise relatively stock (FMF pipe, no airbox cover, twinair filter, boyesen reeds) blaster?
Would taking just a hair off of the head (bringing it down more so than the thin gasket would, but still not approaching needing race gas) be beneficial to an otherwise stock blaster?? Or does this only help in conjuction with porting and changing timing and all that good stuff??
I'm just a weekend warrior on a budget trying to keep up with my brothers and my friends, all of which have a lot more displacement than I do!!
